Re: New Corydora Mato Grosso

Sorry, not picked up on your e-mail, have been in Canada for the past week.

This looks similar to C151 from the Rio Tapajos.

Re: New Corydora "Green Nanay"

Do you have catch location and standard length details, these would be good to compare with existing know species from the same location and if it is new then it will be allocated with a new CW Number.

Would appreciate details in e-mail or pm.

It Might be C. cruziensis, but I would need to have an idea where it was collected and what the standard length is.

Re: Advice On Breeding Wild Caught Corydoras Adolfoi

First off you need to keep them on the warm side, say around 27-28C. Then it is a case of getting them into tip top condition before attempting any spawning triggers. The chances are when they are in condition they will spawn without anything other than a normal water change.

Re: Cory identification needed. Thank you in advance.

Without know its catching location I would say that the fish shown is C142, it has the same colour pattern as C. melanisteus, but the latter is a slightly larger species, which also has a longer snout.

Re: id help on corys

The two long snouted species are at this moment in time unknown, Going by the head and snout shape, I do not believe they are C. septentrionalisit, There is a possiblility they are C. cortesi. The fish at the back look like C. napoensis.

Personally I doubt that they would ever cross, provided that there are enough of both sexes in the groups of the three species. Ian

If you haven't booked your place at the the best Catfish event of the year, then you need to get a move on.

There will be no problems for day visitors, but if you want to stay for the full package there are very few rooms left so don't delay book your place today.

Re: Corydoras ID

Kampher, I am afraid Racoll is not right, if you look at the true Corydoras retculatus the body pattern is bolder and is dark brown and has a mat appearance, Corydoras sodalis has a dark silvery pattern that is finer. CW061 is very similar to Corydoras sodalis , but carries the black blotch in the d...

Re: Possible Hybrid Orange Laser

Before we can actually see if we are dealing with species crossing we need to determine the true identity of the species involved. The so called 'aeneus' group is a very confusing one, and many may be proven to be just regional colour form and I think it will take science a long time to sort them ou...

The species known as C. pulcher Var II has been given the code CW028. The colour pattern compared the C. pulcher is actually quite different. There will also be variability within a population, but there are many who separate the variants and put their own names to them, to me this only causes confu...

A very sad loss

It is with a very heavy heart that I report the passing of Alan Vaissiere he will be sadly missed by a very large number of aquarists, especially here in the Uk, not only for his like of a tipple or two and his ability to create many a lively debate about his beloved fishes. He will probably be reme...

Re: how many corys in a 20 long?

Most of my breeding groups of Cory's are in tanks that measure 18"long x 12" wide x 10" high. These are mostly in groups of 6 or 7. Personally I would say that your tank is easily capable of housing a dozen of either of your preferred specie, but the stocking levels of your other fish...

There is a log of ground to cover with this post. The species mentioned would not have any problem reaching th...

One thing to remember with all fish is their patterns will vary from one to another, with some species it may be minimal and far greater variation in others.

And the head shap is also right.

I would still say C. ephippifer.

In my opinion they are totally different and as Kim says they come from the opposite side of the River Amazon and from totally different water systems. If you are just looking at the colour patterns then there are several that are actually closer to C143 than C. amandajanea. C. ephippifer and C mela...
