Thanks but no thanks: It was Alex and not me who warned you.
Nice assets to your tank, Marc!
The picture I took is not good enough to post here btw.

Re: Which Auchenipterids are being kept by PC members?
They're really nice.
But here, even in a small tank, they proofed te be absolutely invisible during day- (normal for Auchenipterids) and nighttime as well.
Now Marc has a big group. That's good.
The demolition of their apartment will soon be forgotten and forgiven probably.

Picked up some "by catch" of Cheirodon simulans . Looks like 3 species. I need to pick up one Gnathocharax with black (!) pelvic fins when the hatched fish have recovered from their trip.

Re: Odd characin thread
That's Trochilocharax ornatus.
Pretty new and rare in the hobby. I've seen them once at Zoo Zajac, a shop in Germany and were nice but very tiny characins.

Re: Tatia strigata eggs
After a week there are about 10 left.
A lot of youngsters just didn't make it for one reason or another.
The remaining ones are getting darker and start to swim free. I provide them with paramecium and microwurms.
Hope they'll make it...

Re: Tatia strigata eggs
The largest male is 9,5 cm. What strikes me is the pattern with the stripes is slowly fading away. A bit similar to what happened with the white dots on Tatia intermedia. I hope I can provide the young with enough and propper food once they are free swimming. I have an infusionculture running, micro...

Well...The net was pretty usefull. For about ten minutes.
While fishing in a small junglestream my compagnon cut down a bracnh with his machete. The branch fell on the netpole and broke it right in half.

Tatia strigata eggs
I collected some 45 T. strigata eggs two nights ago. I watched the female "laying" her eggs. Pretty interesting to witness that for the first time.
The eggs are now separated in a small container and I allready see some movement in them:

Re: Experiences with Denticetopsis breeding?
Does anyone have experiences with the genus, or even the family? I've had Denticetopsis for a while. Unfortunatly they died during an Ich-outbreak. I really liked them. They were in a tank with other catfish like Tatia, Centromochlus and Ituglanis. http://i39.tinypic.com/209rsja.jpg I never noticed...
