Re: Help me decide?
Indeed and thank you. You absolutely never see these round here. I have only ever seen single specimens and only then every few years, I bought them all. Had a wacky dream last night about parancistrus, (sad I know) got up at 3am couldn't sleep, went downstairs and watched David Attenboruough DVDs t...

Re: Help me decide?
Hmmmmm.... all interesting ideas. I had thought of a snakehead or a puffer as it goes Racoll. I have also thought of Batrochoglanis raninus but trying to find one would probs be hard judgeing by my previous efforts. All efforts to find Parancistrus nudiventris have evaded me :( where does one find r...

Help me decide?
Hello my good chums. I have cleared my tank out completely of fish and am looking for suggestions. I have been thinking of a tank with just one specimen fish in it, something interesting and catfishy but alternative 'oddballs' could be considered. Feel free to post suggestions. The tank is 4ft long ...

Ah cool, thanks.
I think the washed out look is my camera and the lighting, I thought it was a cedar but I grew it from a seedling I found so have never been sure.
I will look that one up!

Re: Diving in Xingu
I have had my feelers out for a Parancistrus nudiventris for over two years now, grate to see a picture of one in the wild, my favourite Catfish. Thanks for posting. Me too, probably more than 2 years for me. I fear the search is fruitless :( Sad to think that when H.Zebra exploded on to the fish k...

Can anyone explain this a bit more clearly for me please: Linebreeding concentrates the genes of a specific ancestor or ancestors through their appearance multiple times in a pedigree. When a specific ancestor appears more than once behind at least one animal on both the sire's side and yet another ...

Re: Not for children..
I think people should be bit less prissy about treating fish, I would just get hold of it and slice it open ,see whats going down and go from there. I't will be fine, fish are hard as nails,I cut a bumblebee catfish out of the gills of a Brachyplatystoma tigrinum , the gills are much more sensitive ...
