Re: Microglanis

Birger's response would be my guess on them. although having never seen the other species alive, i couldn't be definite :( Do you have any for sale? For spawning, I would make sure they have debris/leaf litter to hide among and just let them go. When my old microglanis would spawn, I would get like ...

Re: catfish and cowards

i find it strange that it is on the sword plant and that you say they are good algae eaters. Mine don't touch algae, except for sticks/wafers. Dither fish are smaller schooling fish that have higher activity level. These fish will draw the attention away from the fish on the bottom, making them feel...

Re: catfish and cowards

IMO the wood you are using isn't the best for them. Getting a soft wood like oak is the best. Try feeding them repashy's morning wood, mine love it. and they come out all the time. also add a dither fish to draw them out.

I am starting the planning process for a ray "pond " but no one had responded to the thread. I think it is in tank talk or speak easy section.

Your tank is a dream. I always show my wife and she says keep dreaming.

First post says 33 gal XL or 45 long. The tank pictured looks to be a 33. Filters look to be aquaclears.

Re: Jaguars with Acara Cichlids?

Mine ate anything they could get to. Because the wintertime tank was huge (450 gal+) and loaded with lots of wood, the jags would be seen feeding just about anywhere in the tank. I know with smaller tanks, my tetras all sleep on the bottom at night, which would make them food. Is there a specific re...

I would be more worried about the Ivanacara adoketa. They aren't as peaceful as most say, but they could easily become food for the jags. Personally, I wouldn't keep them together.

stingrays

So I am in the long process of setting up a stingray tank (freshwater.) I am considering Potamotrygon Leopoldi, but realize they get massive. I what I am looking to keep them (yes, more than 1) in is an 8' (96") diameter circular container that is 2' deep. I know the depth isn't something super...

silver hatchetfish at the top. keep a tight fitting cover as they are jumpers. mid water in a 50 gal, try some curviceps cichlids, smaller, peaceful, and shouldn't fit in the mouth of a pictus. I have never seen a 1" pictus catfish. Also, to help with suggestions, could you post a picture of th...

The barbs will nip at the angelfish's fins. I would suggest a larger small tetra like the von rio tetra, black neon, silvertip. They all stay relatively small but aren't nippy like barbs can be.
