Re: New Setups
Long story short both tanks are up and running I'm miles behind where I wanted to be and lots has gone wrong in the process. But the 2nd 3ft is up with water in now. Has had 2 perfect water tests and currently has a platy that has been swimming around for a week in it. I used a mature filter that ha...

Re: Stocking some smaller tanks
Firstly love the look of the Microsynodontis haven't seen them in shops but have built some trust with one willing to order in so maybe when I am ready to take. I have picked up what they called a dwarf moth which to my untrained eye looks like a tiny banjo or rock catfish. So far have had it 2 mont...

Re: Temporary disabled (in physical rehab) with dependant Cats
Glad your recovery is going well. I'm happy for you that your fish are well as I'm sure that despite being in a more basic setup you are really happy to have been able to keep them. When your feeling up to it would love to see some new pictures.

New Setups
To cut a very long and boring story short I have been saving for a while to get a couple of new tanks and setups going. House changes mean it got pushed forward about 8 months and a few losses along the way but now starting to sort it out. Only 1 fish is in an unsuitable long term home atm and he sh...

Re: Breeding attempt for habrosus
Following advice I have left them alone. The 7 of them are now the only fish in the tank. Kind of sad but given the small size of the fish I feel I don't need to be in the tank changing water or cleaning the filter as much. Have topped up the water today from another tank with low nitrates and lower...

Re: Pleco Caves...Good sources for cheap!
Few of the face book groups have people making them. I think my Mrs got me 3 bn ones for £10 can't remember if had to pay postage. Also for those who can't stand social Orwell aquatics get glowing reviews on caves and provide advice on sizes. Sometimes they can do you a deal on items if you message ...

Breeding attempt for habrosus
I love the look of the little Cory and feel it would make a great breeding project. My first attempts failed to settle them. Now I have a group of 7 left alone with some Ember tetra in an 18" with ceramic media for any little ones to hide in. No joy so took a read back here. Kept the media pile...

Re: Temporary disabled (in physical rehab) with dependant Cats
BBA is a pain but unless a fish eats allot of it doesn't do any harm. I have an upside down cat and an oil cat in a tank that has some. I did myself some injuries and am to stubborn to ask for help so adjusted my keeping. I use a water butt that's placed in the night before. Put a tap and hose syste...

Re: Eco-Complete substrate and cory catfish
Well moved my corys onto this about a month ago and they all seem happy. Do have one question how do you clean it as the gravel cleaner just sucks it all up. Can still see the big old barbell's on my 2 old peppered cory's. Noted today they are 5 years old now such a shame I lost the male the new one...

Glad to see things on the up. What is not to love about egg sacks with tails and eyes wobbling around. I'm hoping to get myself a new project this year as my one went belly up. The list is pretty basic Dwarf cory group Ember tetra's Good quality platy - Sounds odd but really good colours and shapes ...

Well the thing I have found to allot lower expense is the more you try to fit it the more it back fires. I bought a new substrate emptied tank filled it followed instructions added first fish a Dora after 3 days. First day fine. Second added little flake 5 bits nothing the fish wouldn't find. Mornin...

Hi All, Just bought a bag of this to try out as I am not getting on with sand in 1 aquarium. Bought 1 bag to try out the look in an 18" tank so am not expecting full experience of it. I want to use it on my 3ft eventually but due to cost of this want to make sure it is worth while. Sorry budget...

Re: Sometimes Fishkeeping Sucks
I'm sorry to hear you have had issues nobody likes to lose fish and on that scale with prized species is very sad. I hope your kit is good to use again. I recently tried boiling some of mine to make sure it was safe and it melted some of it so would not advise boiling anything.

Ouch well done for trying with the job. Well for me I gave away free excess fish and the incorrectly purchases to help solve my issues. All was going well till last week. Having listened to the advice on here I did buy the oil catfish (I couldn't resist), I moved on a few fish and found I had a 2ft virtually empty that I think they would find nice as its out the way. They will be sharing with an ancistrus and a balloon molly yes I have a tank running for 2 fish now s...

Well things were looking so promising. Centromochlus perugiae - oil cat with eels (pangio)
Hi All, Hoping to get another 5 in 2 weeks time to expand my oil cats to a group of 7 and have 7 pangio eels in the tank at the moment (They are often sold as kuhli loach). Does anyone know if this mix will be okay or if they will upset each other? The pangio are all at least 1.2 inch long now the o...

Sadly I lost this little fella due to a fight with a growing Ancistrus. They had shared the 2ft for months and he previously shared the 2ft even in the same cave as an adult without issues.( my adult male is called bam bam and has never shown any real violence except towards females when trapping or...

Re: BNs can be aggressive killers?
Sorry for late reply I'm surprised they killed. The female of my pair hunted my male round the tank when he was to small to sex had to use a divider to keep her away. Is it possible that only one side wanted to spawn or fighting over caves proved fatal? Mine now live in separate tanks but my female ...

Saw mine fight as female wasn't finished dropping eggs I guess and male had already in guard mode. They have taken some lumps out of each other.
I stepped in to split them tanks as they had taken so much damage any more would have meds and that was in just a few hours

Sorry about the loses as nobody likes losing fish. I would love to breed fish and sell for a side line / hobby but lack the tank space and time to maintain them. I've only got Bronze cory & peppered spawning along with Ancistrus CF nothing fancy or hard to breed and all work to raise in communit...
