Re: Indian Hemibagrus

Crabs should work, but live fish would be the food of choice. Shouldn't be a problem getting it to eat Massivore. Cool HH, thanks. I have considered getting a bunch of tilapia to breed and use as feeders, I'll do that then. Cool fish! I wish we saw more fish like this in the USA hobby. Good luck, E...

Re: Pterocryptis sp. & other brown fish.

tAsXVSVsnoU A long pending (and blurry) update. The tank has gone through a few changes and now has the Pterocryptis along with some Tor cf. mosal, Botia dario , Mystus dibrugarensis and a Systomus cf. banksi . There will be a couple of Mystus and a few small mahseers/ Labeo or other silver cyprini...

Re: Indian Hemibagrus

nAb4Td7p24E Just in and settling down after a really long journey. Not H.menoda but something even better. I took zero chances this time and got the tank cover done with really thick wood. The driftwood for its 'lair' is still soaking and will be added this weekend, it will be this ungainly piece o...

It is repeatedly coated with the spicy red marinade you can see in the top photo throughout cooking. It is then served with "pepe" a combination of grilled onions and scotch bonnet peppers. Delicious spices but you will break out in a sweat and your lips will burn. -Shane Oh yes, I see no...

Nice!! Plain grilled? Clarias gariepinus is used for both grilled/fried and curry dishes around these parts. It's very affordable and decent fare.

Re: Fokiensis "gecko cats"

Powerheads can actually reduce oxygen because they can increase water temp by some degrees, negating the benefit from the movement. Airstones are better. What I usually do is add two large CPU fans, one directly on top of the powerheads (I have 2-3 top filters in my tanks) and one on the far side. ...

Re: Fokiensis "gecko cats"

Cool fish!! The secret sauce to this genus is high dissolved oxygen, a good current, low temperatures, frequent water changes (50 % weekly) and live feed. I've seen that they stop eating and just waste away at higher temperatures (and my hometown was THE CAPTIAL of high temperatures). Adding a CPU f...

Re: And now for something completely different...

Does anybody else have this sort of thing happen, or am I slightly nuts? :-p Nope, I think you may have company after all. I was into Bettas in 2005 and Judas Priest had just come out with their 'Angel of Retribution' album. The song 'Lochness' was on repeat mode for a really long time (as was most...

Re: Indian Hemibagrus

A great start but ended badly with a rookie error, sadly. The tank cover was too light to hold the fish down and I came back home after a weeks' travel to find it on the hall floor. Bagrids generally are not too jumpy. In fact, I think this is the ONLY bagrid I have ever lost to jumping. :YMSIGH: I ...

Re: Can anyone help me out?

The major problem with Ompok is that there is very little to no demand in the trade. Ompok pabda and O.malabaricus were in the trade (rare even then) till a few years ago. In case it helps, Wes Wong of Rare Fish used to get them into the United States. I'll let you know if I hear of any Ompok sent t...

Erethistes jerdoni don't really need flow, they need good DO and well filtered water. Providing plants will help replicate their natural habitat.
