Hi INXS - I'd be careful about introducing snails to a new tank, loaches or no - maybe I'm being overly apprehensive . . .

I'll third that, plants and undergravel don't mix, I imagine the problem would be exacerbated by the small gravel also. If I'm judging the picture size right, I would think 120 is litres, and the main filter is some sort of built-in thing? I don't have much experience with canister filters, but have...

I have a trick that will keep snails down, works for me in my 10 gal, which routinely has platy fry. I just snipped the top off a little pop bottle and stuffed it full of lettuce. Needs a little stone or something to weigh it down, and the snails will flock to it. If you are careful you can remove i...

To add to the chorus albeit nicely :D have you considered the drop of the falls? That far (10 cm?)will probably cause a good deal of turbulence. Hi there - I have 4 otos and a solitary panda in my 10 gal, would not think of putting a pleco in a 10 gal small or not, methinks 10's just too small at all. The otos do a really good job on the algae and the cory does the bottom, and the tank is very heavily planted with rotala, hygro sunset and si...

and Ian agrees with Ian - if your gravel is literally "pea-sized", it's way too big, with particular relevance given your predeliction for cleaning - you're taking their dinner! I have a half-sand substrate in my big tank; that is to say, all the sand is down one end to keep it away from t...

nothing fancy, just DIY CO2 and Tetra Blackwater Extract in half the recommended dosage once a week . . . BIGBlue - I have to agree with Shane about the filter, particularly the charcoal - don't be afraid to mess around with the media, you can get some really good results - try some BioMax or some such, ask at the LFS. Hey, those guys are cool - sorry, no idea what they are, the pictures don't show too clear, but check in the Cat-eLog under Genus thumbnails for Callicthyidae and you can load 150+ little corys, maybe 20 of which have a similar colour pattern to yours.
