I made some wooden pleco caves on my turning machine.
One with a removeable backend to have easy access to the fry.
Sorry for the holding the camera high instead of wide

Hey there!
They will be more lively with more current. A Streampump like the Tunze Nanostream 6045 will do wonders for them.
You need more caves / hiding spots and cover from what I can see.
Good luck with them!

A little off topic, but are there pictures of your adult L173 on this forum? Especially that group of WC you got.

L134 Peckoltia Compta spawning footage
Hey folks, I was lucky enough to get some great footage of my P. Compta spawning behaviour. MHn8oy7-JSE It's a 4x timelapse. With the timelapse you might miss out some of the details, but more than 1 hour of footage would be pretty boring to watch. From looking at the original I can tell that there ...

Re: Help with l066 spawning.
Hey there, first up: You sure it is a pair? L66 get pretty big, if your dimensions are in mm, I'd say it could be a little small, but probably sufficient for a single pair. To trigger a spawn: Feed them well, if the female gets nicely round and the male get's lots of odontodes (spikes) on his pector...

Re: Really Fat L201
Looks like a female L201 Big spot to me. If the others are all the same in regards to body shape, they are probably all males. Don't worry, just take her out with her cave and get a proper look at her. She won't get too bothered by it and will return to spawning within a few days. They are not that ...

Sometimes 4 is almost a whole spawn for these With 15 being a really big spawn. But maybe it's different for yours.

I don't mind having a little chit chat about this topic here
I mean they just don't look like most peckoltias I have seen. Body seems too long and flat in comparison.

Congrats Marc
Once they are settled in, the parents should keep spawning all year round. You will have plenty of these little guys to come, soon.

If these are Peckoltia, shouldn't the males get brushy tails? The males don't seem te resemble peckoltia from the body shape, either.
Thanks for the input guys. Hope I can return the favors with some good fry pictures, soon ;)

L306 ready to spawn?
Heyhey, while pulling my L387 I also took a closer look at my L306 Panaqolus sp. They are still quite small. I think 6cm TL 5cm SL at most. But I think I found a pair that looks like it's ready to go. Would like to hear your thought's on it. Here are pictures of what I think is a pair: IMAG0038.jpg ...

Decided to pull the fish for some shots: IMAG0029.jpg IMAG0031.jpg IMAG0034.jpg Got 4 Males and 3 Females from what I can tell. Females are really gravid. Breeding size/age for L387 or other Ancistomus
Hey folks, I have a group of 6-7 L387. I bought them about 10 month ago as youngsters. They grew nicely. And the females look pretty gravid to me. It's actually frightening how fat they are. But the males dont show any odontodes or the likes of it. But at least 2 of them are caving. Need to know if ...

Congrats. I think this topic will not give you a clear answer. I always prefer to move them to a hang in breeding box of some kind. Just to make sure they will get plenty food during their first weeks. I found for my tanks, that this will help maximize the amount of healthy, striving fry. When I lea...

I don't think it will eat in the nursery. Plecos don't eat when they don't feel save. They need cover.

Just like Eric said, #1 and #1 are Hypancistrus. L400 and L399 came to my mind, too, when I saw them. But getting a reliable ID on these might be tough. But with regards to any treatments or medicine, foods etc. these will just behave like any kind of hypancistrus. Make sure to have good aeration in...

Re: Using a human child medicine spoon to capture pleco fry
Zebras do not go through, they suck onto the inside of the airline and stop moving through. Getting them out was a PITA. I can see just the same happening with this spoon :D Doesn't look like this item is a common thing over here so I don't really know, but from the looks of it, the plecos could si...

Peixes, your fish is certainly not the same as Glauce's or the fish you found in the Display tank at your shop. Not even the same genus.
Your pleco is very likely from the genus Ancistomus. is a very good guess. Might reach 20cm or 8" at most.

I thought, there are cases of hemiancistrus showing the membrane, too? Also, I can count 5 soft rays in the dorsal... How does this fit in either Baryancistrus or Hemiancistrus? The first soft ray looks quite strange, maybe it lost part of its dorsal once and this is what remained? Considering this,...

L134 would not be my beginners tip. As they seem to be rather random in their spawning behaviors. Meaning, it is pretty tough to induce a spawn on these. They just may do it or not and it might take a year or more for them to start breeding after you got them and it might turn out rather disappoint...
