Did you put this one back into the river after taking pic? Or did you just want a pic with the habitat in the back?

Re: UV sterilization harmful/helpful? Thanks!

I only put the UV on for a day or two once a month. leaving it on constantly can get expensive. Certainly Both in your energy bill but also, these lamps don't last very long. After ~5000 hours (read the manual) most of them need to be replaced - and they are costly. + putting them one and out count...

Look`s like tubifex or something in that direction to me. What would be indeed a sign for bad water / overfeeding. Well fish will eat them sooner or later.

The "Confused" in the topic name fit´s really well :-

I would rather say Pareutropius buffei , or nearby species. Err, Pareutropius buffei has a dorsal fin! Jools We might just don`t see it in the pics? The wiskers of Kryptopterus, as well as those of Ompok, go frontwards, those of Pareutropius go towards tail. Or ar there no whiskers at all an we look...

Re: Does anyone use a buffer on their pl*co tanks

Well, we should speak about conductivity instead of TDS. :-X Back to topic - we still have Jools Oyster Sheels as softest = best methode for the normal aquarist (for example AndrewC)to use inside the tank - then I would say the next stronger methode would be supplying little ammount of NaHCO3 to tap...

Re: Does anyone use a buffer on their pl*co tanks

Are you sure hydroxides and hydronium contribute towards conductivity? Sure, I saw it at different experiments. The one you sould try after that from Bas Pels is to take 150ml RO water and put 20ml 0,1M HCl and your TDS meter in, then you supply succrssive 1ml 0,1M NaOH till you have 40ml 0,1M NaOH...

The few volts on your voltmeter don`t come from electromagnetic fields, those are created by your metal contact as you then great a "Metal-/metalion-electrode" :!: If you take another metal for contact with your water, you will see that your voltmeter shows a other number :) That`s somethi...
