It has been suggested to me that these are A. nauticus and A. monitor. Although A. nauticus " is so far found only found in Peru and Colombia, all three countries (Peru, Colombia, Brazil ) meet at a point where many fishes are caught. "

Different situation. I position my photo tank by the kitchen sink with a Gal plastic ice cream bucket with specimen(s) I'm planning to shoot in the sink. Forgot to have strainer in. WOW!! How far this has travelled!!! These fish were traded in , and are, at my LFS here in Austin Texas! He didn't remember the breeder he bought them from or what they were sold as!!!

You most likely have Pareutropius buffei . From the link above: "Most often these catfish are imported and sold as P. debauwi, often leading to an alternative common name of ''debauwi cats''. This isn't accurate however. The true P. debauwi is rarely imported and has several distinguishing feat...
