Hey Eric,
Most of the specimens are around an inch in length. Looking at them, one would expect them to be dainty and delicate but all the specimens survived an extraordinarily rough journey back home. I was shocked myself!

Re: Pterocryptis sp. - Tankmates
Thanks HH (@Silurus), the Botia have been ignored so far and I am hoping it stays that way. There seems to be no sparring as well, another good sign. The tank has become quite busy with all the scurrying around, though. A couple of specimens have gone really dark while a majority are exhibiting a un...

Biotope with Pterocryptis cf. indicus
I have gotten my paws on a few Pterocryptis sp. from Arunachal Pradesh, north eastern India. While I went expecting to pick up 3-4 specimens, I am now the proud owner of 11 ultra 'greyish brown' Pterocryptis . Their future aquaria- a hill stream tank, has a bunch of Hypselobarbus jerdoni , Tor , Sys...

Re: Clean invertebrates
I feed tubifex and blood worms (both live) on a fairly regular basis, two water changes a day and ample aeration keeps these worms living long enough to use on multiple occasions. I have been able to keep tubifex alive for 3-4 weeks (with die offs) through water changes and Tetra Bits as feed. While...

Why don't you make a small photography tank? It will be quite useful, especially when shooting fish like these.

The tank looks perfect for these fish. You could consider adding more plants, this would suit the Erethistes and the Pseudolaguvia. What's the water temperature like?

Re: Labeo cyclorynchus - Adult Size???
Hey Viktor, Thanks for the info! Yeah, Labeo can be a handful in the aquaria but they are also (fortunately?) gorgeous fish. I am not too concerned as the tank I intend to keep them in has other labeonins, large cyprinids and some Mystus . These have settled down but there is the occasional bickerin...

Labeo cyclorynchus - Adult Size???
These beauties have been offered to me at 5"-7" TL as part of a Congo shipment. I would like to know if anyone on the forum has kept these and grown them out as I am getting conflicting reports on their adult size presently. Seriouslyfish.com has them pegged at 6" SL, Fishbase at 16 c...

Re: Indian Rita
I had picked up a couple of Rita that were offered as R.rita . The provenance was of great interest to me as these were from Arunachal Pradesh (north eastern India) and fish from here are seldom available in the trade. Also, Arunachal Pradesh shares a border with Myanmar which made me hope (a little...

Re: Olyra Longicaudata
There are two individuals, the first one is tiny, about 5 centimeters, while the one that hides in the cup is about 7. They fight constantly so they are housed separately. Olyra longicaudata typically have very long upper caudal lobes, even at small sizes (I have seen specimens at 1.5 inches TL wit...

Re: Rita identification Help needed
All Rita species have a forked caudal fin while the fish you have posted seems to have a truncate one. While the overall appearance suggests a Rita , the shape/nature of the caudal fin is quite strange. Damaged caudal fins can regrow in a strange manner at times, but this seems to be too extreme if ...

Awesome!!! What was the water temperature where you collected this and what are the tank mates presently? Its good to note it is taking food, these sisorids are sometimes downright stubborn and just wither away.
