Re: grindle worms and white worms

Hi I dont have any problems with grindle worms at all as they are fed on hot baby cereal which puts a lot of vitamins into the worms, then into the fish, thats good for them to produce the eggs and good health, as for the white worm they are fed on white or brown bread that produces fat in the worms ...

Are grindle worms high in fat content like whiteworms and therefore should be fed sparingly?

Re: how to bring down tank temperature?

They do make aquarium fans that attach to the top rim of your tank. They aren't very expensive if you don't want to DIY a computer fan. Rather then putting ice cubes into the tank, most people float a frozen bottle of water in their tanks. This process last longer then ice cubes and you don't have t...

Re: No Barbels

I've also had problems with bare bottom tanks with barbel erosions aswell. I switched to a very fine gravel and thier barbels are all nice and long :D Aesthetically a fine gravel or sand is much more natural and your corys will enjoy digging in it. It doesn't need to be deep, mine is probably around...

How to prepare earthworms?

I would like to try feeding earthworms from my backyard to my corydoras and would like to know how to safely prepare them for feed? How do you drain their "guts", do I need to cut them into tiny pieces so it fits in the cory's mouthes? They seem rubbery.

I'm pretty sure in this case, it's genetic. I've had him for several years and it was always like this. My substrate is fine, since all my corys have long barbels, as you can see from this cory's barbels.

just wanted to share a pic of one of my male panda corydoras with a very cool forked barbel. It would be even cooler if 4 of his long barbels were forked, would look like a bushynose cory

freshwater fairy shrimps for fry?

I recently found an ebay listing, I am not the seller, for freshwater fairy shrimp eggs. These are similar to brine shrimp but much easier to hatch, supposedly you just drop them intowater and wait a day for them to hatch, no airpump or salt needed. Anyone try this to feed cory fry? Re: Cory ID

I bought them as "whitefin" corydoras if that helps. I don't think they are C. agassizii, the cory is not as pale as the pic shows but it's not as colourful as C. agassizii.

Re: Should I be concerned?

if you didn't mix up your nitrate and nitrite readings, then you should be concerned. A cycled tank should have zero nitrite readings and some nitrate reading. The nitrogen cycle is ammonia -> nitrite -> nitrate

Re: snail eaters

interesting, when I tore down my planted tank, that had plenty of snails, and switched to a mix cory tank, the snails eventually disappeared. I always assumed it was because of the corys efficiancy in eating all the food and therefore no leftovers for the snails.

nerite eggs are quite different then cory eggs. I had nerites and they would lay eggs all over, I've also spawned a few corys. Nerite eggs have a hard shell, cory eggs are "softer"

Carib Sea Fine Marine white sand

I was looking for some fine white sand at the LFS and the only one they carried was Carib Sea Marine fine white sand. The bag says it's for freshwater aswell since it's not supposed to alter ph, but is this safe for corys? Any one use this for their corys?

I've got a pair of trilineatus that is close to 10 years old and still looking healthy. From my understanding most cories have a lifespan of 10-15 years.
