Re: Helogenes marmoratus

Different experience here. In a large tank things went okay, but in a tank of 100x30x40 (cms) 6 of them were apparently too many, despite the fact they did well at the LFS (OutsideInside) and in the bag. They were not very fond of eachother, which resulted in a count down. The last specimen did wel...

Hi!! I kept mine in a rather big tanks with lots of floating plants in different zone of the tanks... I never witness any schooling, they are much individuals, they would also rest in their own little place, either in floating plants or in the diftwood also!! Never seen any agression or anything lik...

I agree with the idea of the skin been eaten by another fish, but to confirm this I would need more info on the tank size and furniture and tank mates

Hi!!

Well...either overfed, bloated...doesn't look really good...

dark colour, the lighter patch, the overexpended body...tend to show that she is sick!!

How is its behaviour?? doesn't it move much?? especially during feeding??

Hi!!

Well it works better on tubes or caves closed in one side!!

You ll find them in different type of current, almost none to good flowing so basically it doesn't matter much

Any chance this could be L092, Lasiancistrus tentaculatus? I'm just curious and have no record of good catfish IDs to speak of, so I am probably a million miles away ;) Hi!! Nope, this is typical Ancistrus species, tentacules... By the way Driftwood, it would be nice if you take some time to introd...

Re: L270 or Peckoltia vittata or ...?

Hi!!

I should have paid more attention when I was reading!!
Well looking at the video, I should say your fish look like some member of the Hypancistrus species group.
Possibly L401, that would be the closest I could find!!

No Peckoltia compta for sure, neither it is L340 or L129

Hi!!

Yes Peckoltia compta for the top one

The bottom pic looks like a Hypancistrus, I believe it to be L340 / debilittera
But other pictures should help confirm it!!

Hi!! I think that if you found the L411 male with the eggs, there is no reason to think he is not the father, I have never seen an individual taking care of the fry or eggs of another...he would certainly eat it that care of them...too much energy for futur individuals not carrying his genes!! Re: Recognize these two plecos?

Hi Milton!!

I would also believe it would be H. furunculus, the only thing that is putting me off is the size and the individual is 5 years old at least so fully mature!!

A mature "full grown" H. furunculus shoud be at least twice this size!!

Re: Recognize these two plecos?

Hi Dave!!

Any chance for a picture of the mouth!!

Pattern would be L127
But some features make it looks like a Hypancistrus
Still L127 should be a more likely ID as both L126 and L127 were often contaminants of each others in shipping out of Colombia!!
Cheers!!
