Re: help for L14 sexing

Image
This is male. Especially bulky head shape is very distinct feature with adult male scobianscistrus aureatus. Head is the widest part of the body.

I think they are both female based on their body shape.

That looks like a Jamanxim?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbI-iSNNmww&t=0m8s Any more pics/videos of this individual? I'm a bit panaque geek too. I have L27 Jamanxim x2, L27 Xingu, L27 Tapajos, L90 "ojo chico", used to have almost white L203. Here some pics. http://www.planetcatfish....

Re: Teeth degradation in Panaque nigrolineatus

First thing that comes to my mind is lack of nutrients. Add some so called epsom salt or non raffinated sea salt sometimes? Tap water conditioners remove chemicals and heavy metals but also the beneficial nutritions/minerals as well which are the build blocks of every living thing. Food may not prov...

Re: L046 Biotype Small fish ideas

Teleocichla-species are small and interesting fishes which I would consider with H. zebra. They live in same kind of rapids as hypancistrus and most of other plecos. Teleocichla sp. Xingu is suitable for your biotope aquarium.

Re: L600 growth rate

My male L114 growth:
1.6.2013 5 cm
1.2.2014 10 cm
9.10.2014 15.5 cm
15.11.2014 17 cm
26.1.2015 19 cm sold

I got my female L600 at a size of 19 cm 10 months ago and it's now 22-23 cm (no real measures yet, just a quess).

Your fish looks a bit like L427, but i'm not an expert.

How big is your Panaque schaeferi? Haven't seen any pics of it. Would be interesting to see some pics of it.

Re: L114 sexing

1 male, 2 female , 3 male, 4 female, 5 male(?). If you can take pics from side when fins open/extended it would be easier. But i'm sure you have both sexes in your colony.

Re: info about Panaque pleco

It also may be L203, much more common than the blue eye.

Meaty diet? I mean too much fat in food. That's common symptom and killer for older omnivore plecos too.

Do I see sawdust? :D

The sheer size of that tank makes it beautiful with big "driftwood". Dimension?

Re: L018 Growth rate.... 12cm, how old roughly will this be?

mmm interesting! Yes it is. I received a 5-6cm L081 in June 2013 and now February 2014 he/she is about 10 cm. He's now as wide as he was long 7 months ago. So what i have red is false. Everywhere is told that gold nuggets grow very slowly by 1" per year. My tank is 450 liters, with two streams...

Re: strange colouration panaque

Okay, so it just may be a individual difference or different birth location. One (here in Finland) L190 turned dark after eating NLS and later lighten up again after no NLS. Other "members" of ordered L190 group didnt have this phenomenon, but we will really never know the real cause.

Old thread, and this might sound strange, but are you feeding him any New Life Spectrum products like New Life Spectrum H2O Stable Wafers? How he looks today?
