Just to make it available, here is a link to my journal for the tank that I keep/breed these fish and is the tank that your fish will be coming from! :)

Re: Care info for L-183

Your tank sounds like a great home for your new L183. Like Mats said the only thing missing is tank temp. You just want to make sure that you are in the upper 70's lower 80's as he suggested. :d

AND it put me to shame that I didn't treat my group with such a reverence this summer. I put them in the pond, the temperature was 62 degrees when I pulled them out yesterday. They doubled in size and If I KNEW they were fetching for those prices, I would have been keeping them indoors. 7 of them a...

How could you even do that? You would be shocked and dismayed at how many times people have written me and said, "I took a piece of rigid airline tubing and poked and prodded them to get them moving, but it didn't work." Yes, some folks think that their fish are there for entertainment pu...

Re: Best conditios for Black C. Schultzei

When I had my blacks, they spawned in an unheated tank, probably about 75 or so? Sponge filtered with lots of duckweed. The tank is unheated, about 72 deg or so. There are some crypts and anubus in there. I have a 2217 with a lily pipe on the outflow and a hagen elite filter. Both are at the surfac...

Re: Best conditios for Black C. Schultzei

Also since I have these in a tank with my S.Barbatus I have noticed that the barbatus seem to shoal more than the Schultzie. Is this normal or could it be attributed to the fact that the Schultzie were recently added to the tank? There is no "set" thing for Cory shoaling among individual ...

FS-L183 Starlight Bristlenose Plecostomus

My breeding group spawned again and now the babies are big enough (1.5") for me to let go. These are some of the most intriguing fish I have ever kept. They are home in a normal community set up or a specialized amazon bio-tope. They are mostly herbivores and will absolutely demolish any GDA or...

Re: S.barbatus

Chris told me that they take a while to mature. Also the Barbatus I have are maybe 1.5"-2" and are not showing any sexual dimorphism yet. I figured that would be a good clue that they were of breeding age too.

Re: S.barbatus

Can you post up pics of the fish that spawned? Through all of my research on Barbatus I found that they take a couple years to reach sexual maturity and at that point the males are some times almost 4"TL.

Thank you.

Re: Corydoras duplicareus

Could be the males aren't sexually mature or the water is not correct for the baby cories to survive. Do the eggs just get eaten or get moldy then eaten?

I have 3 unused 10g tanks that I have been running for a few months and think ill be throwing some groups of the Blacks in there. Keeping the Barbatus in the larger tank since, well they are larger.

Excellent video and beautiful fish Frank! Hopefully in a year or so I can get my Barbatus to do some of the same. I also just acquired some Black schultzei that are in the same tank with the Barbatus and I have hopes of them breeding for me to. What are the parameters and temp Frank? Also, How are t...

Re: who entices who

Hi, I'm a newbie. I just got some bronze cories and heard that they breed without encouragement. I also saw one of the smaller corys thet I suspect is male chasing around and nudging a bigger one that I thought was a female. Could they be mating already? They could be but that could also be categor...

Best conditios for Black C. Schultzei

I just acquired 10 Black C. Schultzei in a trade for some of my L183 Star lights. I am very excited as I have wanted these little black beauties ever since I first saw a pic of them. Now im keeping them in a tank with my S.Barbatus and am wanting to breed both of them. Here is a link to a journal im...

Generally spiking there is no big difference between that species. If you like bright edges, better to find some golden nuggets than brake your brain with classification of ancistruses )) There is a huge difference. The 183 has very clear white lines on the edges of it's top fins. I just don't thin...
