Re: advice needed for Robineae Breeding please please
Do you have any other Cory's breeding? One trick that works on finicky breeders is to do a water change, using water from a tank that another species had just bred in. With all pheromones in the water from an actively spawning group, it helps encourage others to start to spawn.

Whats the difference between an hma filter vs r/o or de-ionizer? This is the first time I've heard of an hma filter.

Love your fish. You can use ugj's (under gravel jets) to help shuffle the sawdust towards the filter intake for ease of cleaning.

Money makes most people turn a blind eye. Seeing this gives that "run to the grocery store & stock up on bread & milk" feeling like people do when theres a big storm coming. Only my lfs stink & dont carry much of anything but ugly Hypostomus and the occassional abn.

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/armored-catfish-wreaking-havoc-south-florida-lakes-182812663.html#more-4190 I could never understand why these Hypostomus sp.'s are used as the staple pleco in the hobby. Re: April showers bring May fry?
Do you have a diverter which doesn't fill the tank until after it's rained for a while? No, but the tube between the gutter downspout and the rain barrel just pops on and off. What kind of roofing do you have on your house/garage? A standard US shingle roof. I have no idea what it is made of, but i...

Great information thank you! Though the greatest contributor to the heat in the tank is my wife. Keeps playing with the heat in the house & is running it at 75*F I prefer it at around 68*-70*. Funny how in the summer she cant live with out the air conditioner but come fall/winter suddenly she sw...

power heads/temp question
From the thailand thread, it was mentioned about a drop in temp by switching from a powerhead to the new Koralia water jets. How much of a difference in temps would making a switch like that make? I have a 55 gallon temperate tank with a large powerhead. I think its a hagen with the reverse flow opt...

If you have the funds, a group of Synodontis pardalis ( http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/_species.php?species_id=1879 would be great. Re: If you could do anything...
Not sure why they'd not recommend a wet/dry for a planted tank. I had a 55 gallon dutch style tank with discus & wood cats with one of those h.o.b wet dry's back in the 90's. I loved it. kept my tank crystal clear when coupled with a marineland h.o.t filter. They do not recommend them because o...

Re: If you could do anything...
I use wet/dry filters which I made myself on my 75 gal and 125 gal. I know that planted tank specialists do not recommend them but I have my 125 gal set up as a planted Tetra tank and my plants are doing fine. I run large wet/dry filters with each equipped with a MagDrive 9.5 water pump. These are ...

Re: the Reason for the Seasons. why we ignore them?
Great information & good ideas. When I first tried to breed discus, I tried the temperature & water changing tricks and got bubkus. Then one day, we had a thunderstorm & I got 2 spawns. Then when ever we had a good rain, my discus would spawn. It didnt matter what I did as long as it rai...
