A pic would be really useful
What appears on a google search for Sargent pleco/Sergeant etc is negligible - never heard of it either

Re: Pygmy cory vs lava rock and cyclops.
The pygmy cory will eat tiny organisms as part of their diet - they certainly eat Cyclops & would eat anything small enough to fit in their little mouths. They shouldn't be affected by lava rock as long as you have sand substrate. Lava rock probably wouldn't be great with oto's

The last photo doesn't look like either to me & appears to be a hybrid - body blotches not typical for lucipinnis, body slightly deep, leading edge of dorsal not white/pale

Re: black and white catfish
Looks genuine from the newer photos. Young do have some spots, as in the photos, which disappear as they age.
In (my) photo which jodilynn posted above you can see the dorsal fin is not dark, clearly edged with white - it's more washed out which a lot of hybrids have

Synodontis granulosus or a hybrid thereof
If genuine it's a £100 fish, hybrids worth very little

I've got males at that size with many more bristles than that - maybe females, maybe just not well developed males?

L144 CotM article/species page
in light of this excellent article it appears odd that the registered keeper list is so large - surely they keep the sp.4 misidentified species? - could the species page be altered to reflect this, if the purpose is to remove confusion & reflect how scarce the L144 really is

It is similar to but the variance in individuals is great & we still don't know exactly what the parental mix is whether true species are used or hybrids used to create the variations we are seeing

Re: Tetra LifeGaurd and "scaleless" fish, i.e. Synodontis nigriventris
No catfishes have scales - they are either naked like synos or with bony plates like plecs. Synos when in good health are generally tough as old boots & can handle meds quite well. My concern is that you are treating the tank with no visible signs of disease - it could be something else: what fi...

Re: Which Auchenipterids are being kept by PC members?
@kruseman - its not even a complete tank shot!
I was particularly interested in the spotting density on the bodies as it doesn't appear to be consistent with overall size.
A difference between the sexes? Something else?

Re: How to handle & transport fish while reducing stress
Carps, tilapias or catfish can survive levels of oxygen deficit and suspended solids that would be lethal for salmonids The quote is far to generalistic for my liking. Some cory species are known to self-poison in transport, some cats would be much more delicate than salmonids in terms of oxygen de...
