Next breeding attempt with clown plecos ( I hope).

Next clown pleco breeding attempt is in the planning stages. Clown plecos look wonderful, unlike my other catfish tank. Always nice to have some fish doing good when there's a disaster going on in another tank. I have eight clown plecos in two separate fifty five gals. I hope I can start a dry seaso...

Corydora laying on side?.

This happened last august. I had two corydoras in a 10-15 gal live planted hex tank with two killfish( I still have them, just not in that setup). One day I came and one of the corydoras was laying down sideways with the belly towards the glass. I thought "oh dear a dead fish", then the co...

Re: Clown plecs with Ancistrus?

I think there's the potential for aggression. I had a pair of BN plecos with my clown pleco group, the BNs bred and the BN babies "disappeared" right after hatching. My male BN died suddenly. I've been wanting to remove my female BN, but I can't find her right now. I was suspecting aggress...

Re: The update on my synos and their situation.

I don't care much for plastic plants, but I'll throw some in there if it helps. I took a picture today of one of the injured synos with my cell phone. I have a feeling whatever the outcome some people won't believe me that they suddenly started fighting after living together peacefully for years. It...

Re: The update on my synos and their situation.

Ok, going back... Tank size is 150 gal. Age of the tank is a bit uncertain. Only the older synodontis trio were in the tank to begin with as it used to be a cichlid community tank. I usually feed them Kens fish catfish pellets as a staple diet. Temps are around 76F. Not worried about ammonia, nitrit...

I was going to say either immature or female.
BTW, top views are most helpful for sexing because then you can see the "hairy tail" the best.

Re: The update on my synos and their situation.

I'm going to need a solution soon as to why the synos suddenly started fighting as I cannot continue to drive out every day to do daily water changes, nor do I have enough equipped tanks to isolate each syno. Ironically I do have enough spare tanks to separate each one and maybe even enough extra fi...

Re: The update on my synos and their situation.

No tank-mates for the synodontis besides each other, it's a synodontis species tank. Years ago I had cichlds with them and at one time , a blue eyed pleco. I have been thinking of adding a large killifish called a blue gularis sometime, I don't know if I will.

Re: The update on my synos and their situation.

I do at the rental house, but not at my parents house where the synodontis are. Also, the clown plecos in the next tank over are doing fine. Something really weird is going on, I've never had synodontis "go crazy" like this before. I wondered if my younger trio of synodontis have just reac...

Re: The update on my synos and their situation.

The strange mysterious synodontis saga drags on. All hell is breaking loose in that tank. All synodontis in the main tank have nasty scratches from presumed fighting after living peacefully together two years. One is even suddening missing par of the top caudal fin( I hope they grow these back). A h...

Re: BN breeding advise

My BN used to love a small ceramic log. Then I got a ceramic "envelope" type cave made for plecos and they liked that even better.
Seems like if they have a tube shaped cave, they'll be satisfied.

to two different aquariums. Whenever I try to select clown plecos for a 55 gal, it moves the group over from the other 55 gal.
It doesn't seem to allow me to keep clown plecos in two different setups.

I tend to use flowerpots and checking what other ideas are out there.
Whenever I find a commercial ornament that seems large enough, it's costly.

I sure searched like crazy for an Eheim 2260-2 on sale...Nobody putting them on "black Friday" sales. I actually checked every page on google searching for them. If only Marine Depot would carry them again for $200. I know it's a good filter...I just have to wonder if it's worth about as ...

Re: Water current for clown plecos.

Good sale on Eheim 2217 today so I bought three of them. Clown pleco tanks will be all set. Synodontis tank still needs a second filter as ammonia was raising last time I cleaned their filter. Goldfish will still need a filter as their tank is underfiltered, but I think I can get by now if I can get...

Re: Water current for clown plecos.

I have a Fluval FX5 already running on my syno tank. It's in the basement so I didn't care about noise. Despite this, I find the Fx5 quiet enough and I sometimes put my hand on it to check if it's on. My current setup for my older clown plecos is a Eheim 2217 and two Fluval internal 4s. I had a Mang...

The update on my synos and their situation.

The one with the wound on the side, Abraham has had two bio bandage treatments and is back in the main tank. Wound is about half of the size it was before. Today I saw another one( not sure who yet) with a scratch on the side so my conclusion now is that for some reason they have started fighting. W...

Re: Wounds on Synodontis Euptera

Looks like a small wound. Doesn't look like a heater burn from what I remember( wish I had photographed when they got heater burns).
Is there is a conflict with another fish( another synodontis?) or maybe scrapped himself on an ornament?.

I'm surprised to hear this and was under the impression that they are suitable catfish for larger community tanks.
What is "almost everything", as in what were the tank-mates?.

The Eheim 2260 has been replaced by the Eheim 2262..Both filters get good reviews, but are difficult to find on sale.
So maybe I'll get one next year.

Re: Water current for clown plecos.

I had $200 set aside to buy a Eheim 2260 filter..After searching for a while, gave up on that one.
Every time I find a Eheim 2260 for a good price, it's sold out or they do the bait and switch where when I click on the link, it's the Eheim 2217 they offer instead.
