Re: Repashy Superfoods for fish

I have been feeding it to all fry, including tetras. Yes, they have to learn what it is, but that does not take very long. I have also been starting fry on the dry powder sprinkled over the water surface like a micro food or APR.

Re: Repashy Superfoods for fish

The gel takes 24 - 48 hours to dissolve in water. The food is excellent for fry because it is available for them to graze on for hours and hours. The specific application of feeding fry is what caught my attention right from the start.

Re: Repashy Superfoods for fish

What is the recommended storage for the food after it has been hydrated, how long will the hydrated food last in the fridge/freezer and do you know the shelf life of the powder pre-hydration? Shelf life of the powder is 18 - 24 months. In a fridge the gel will last a couple weeks, and in a freezer ...

Re: Repashy Superfoods for fish

About price comparisons... comparing dry weight Repashy to dry weight of a flake or pellet, the Repashy is going to be more expensive. But imo there is less waste and the the delivery system for getting the food into the fish is more efficient. What I was trying to point out my local clubs forums wa...

Repashy Superfoods for fish

Allen Repashy is releasing a new line of his excellent gel foods, and these will be for fish! I think these gel foods are going to change the way we think about feeding fish. I posted a video in my blog about the food: http://tedsfishroom.com/2012/01/13/rapashy-superfoods-in-new-stock-shop/ The list...

A fish seller who shall remain nameless in case this is a hoax, is offering wild-caught L46 from Brazil. THis person says the ban has been lifted.

Any truth to this?

They are rare is the USA trade because they are illegal to sell in the USA trade (at least in most states I know of.. maybe Texas is different). The last Clarius sp. I saw show up in a store was in a box of tadpoles from a Florida fish farm.

Necessity drives invention. Check out the hatchery/incubator chamber I built. I have been having issues rearing C. panda larvae, so hopefully this will help.

Cory. or Sclero. what?

The LFS I deal with got these in yesterday. There was another cory of similar shape with different markings, but these were obviously all the same species and I could pick two males and a female. I have gone through the images here and on http://www.corycats.com a few times, and I have an idea of wh...

Panda larvae deaths

I have been collecting and hatching C. panda eggs for a couple weeks now, but all of them have dies a few days after hatching. I have tried leaving them in the containers I am hatching them in, and placing them in a grow out show box. How do you go about rearing larvae to free swimming?

Sturisoma aurem fry are progressing

The first spawn from my Sturisoma aurem fry are doing well. Here is a link to the log: http://www.tedsfishroom.com/sturisomalog.html I am raising the fry in different batches to see how they do. So far I think the batch that is crowded in a plastic dish are growing faster that the batch in a ten gal...

Norman, your description of aurem and Shane's description (quoting Steindachner) are conflicting. The images Shane posted of the fish he describes as aurem clearly show a fish with a bulky body and a niticeably curved dorsal spine. You state that both aurem and panamense have straight dorsals and sl...

How can you differentiate between aurem and panamense? Is collection locality the only way? If collection locality is the only way, why would they be considered different species?
