Re: Heptapterus mustelinus

Sorry for your loss, always hard to see them go and much more so when they obtain such a status. I have not lived all that long but in that time I have found the pain of losing a true pet has never dulled and I suspect it never will. The hardest part of working with live animals will always be the h...

Re: Sexing Corydoras hastatus.

Hi! In species profile I can see that female of this species have brighter coloured eyes. http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=324 It is just issue of the photo, or it can be really a point in sexing them? I beleive its just the way the flash bounced off the eye- Best to do th...

Kaelabaela wrote:Is lateral line erosion harmful? I have cichlids in the same tank, is it something that can effect them?
No as far as I understand its a sign of a deficiency of some sort- its not contagious but other synos being kept the same way will probably develop it because they are in the same conditions

Re: Chronic Cory fin rot problems

Thanks :) So you think the high nitrates are the issue? It's quite possible, maybe this species is particularly sensitive to them. I'm happy do do more water changes to keep them down, is reducing feeding likely to weaken them stuff further though? Cheers, Paul As my understanding goes Less food= l...

Re: Ragged Dorsal and Pectoral Fins

Hmmm...I'm not sure I like the sound of that. How does one vacuum sand without sucking up the sand. I think fish are beyond my knowledge, and I feel bad that I got these. Poor guys! I'm not sure what to do now. If it's an "anaerobic condition," do I start all over? Sorry I could be the be...

Sounds like someone is having too much fun :) Forgot to mention that is some seriously beautiful tank. I am so used to my functional but ugly bare or nearly bare ones. I don't think its possible to have to much fun because that would imply one may have to many catfish and thats just ridiculous ;)) ...

Re: Ragged Dorsal and Pectoral Fins

Try to cut back on feeding (every other day) and increase the size and frequency of water changes (more than less the same advice I gave to Mol_PMB). I presume having an underlayment means that you don't gravel vac? If you don't and the substrate is deep its very possible your tank has developed ana...

Re: Chronic Cory fin rot problems

I would cut back on feeding to every other day and increase water changes to 50% every 3-4 days. The amount of waste those cories produce is probably sufficient to cease the addition of fertiliser (definitely after you add more cories)

Hi Viktor! I'm glad I could give you a good read! Re: Physopyxis lyra!

Nice work In Europe, the stuff we call "dragon stone" contains a lot of chalck, which hardens the water. Hardening the water is something you will not seek, so I can only hope you are certain the dragen stone is safe. Just in case you are not certain, ask a Chemistry teacher to test is wi...

Is it possible the rescape increased the distance of vision they have within the tank? If so try and break up the vision of one anothers territories by rescaping again and perhaps spacing the caves further apart. I hope this helps but if it doesn't I could see picture of the tank being an asset in d...

I feel like I won't be able to get you a location more specific than south america but I'll take lots of photos and some macros to look for anything different. I guess If I get them I'll put them as cf in the mean time.

Re: Concolor or agassazii?

I vote for both of them but if you have to choose I would go for the Concolors as to me they are just sleeker and I like the one tone coloration you don't often see in Cories, they would also contrast better with the pandas in my opinion.

ID of these Small whip tails?

Hello everyone! These guys are at a store that with any luck I'll be working at soon! They are definitely in the Hemiloricaria/Rineloricaria but any more specific than that and I'm stumped. They are about 2-2.5 inches TL http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u529/Colubridchaos/IMG_9656_zpsgnlyqqgz.jpg...
