Combining Farlowella and Panaque maccus
Hi, Kan Farlowella's be combined with Panaque maccus? I consider combineing them in my 1 meter P. maccus-biotope. According the description Farlowella can not be be combined with larger pleco's, but is P. maccus a bigger species? ( I mean: they are shorter.....but more broad)..... Any experience? Th...

Re: P. Maccus biotope stocking question
Thanks Shane, Do rams and the apisto's also occur in the driftwood tangles? Because I recently installed a bigger filter, and the Nannostomus do not seem to enjoy the extra flow. I guess they normally inhabit pools and small streams in the Llanos, and not the rivers. The books look cool, I will take...

P. Maccus biotope stocking question
Hi all, I have a 200 litre P. maccus biotope stuffed full with wood and some floating plants. There is a decent flow (1100 L/h). The fish are: 5 P. maccus ( 1oldie 7,5 cm and 4 younsters of 4,5/5 cm) 4 Carnegiella marthae (once 15, until I forgot to clean the filter) 10 Nannostomus eques 7 Apistogra...

Re: ID: Is it really LDA67?
Shane gave me some good information on the determination of this species: I am assuming that you mean the difference between Panaque maccus and LDA 67 (Panaque sp aff maccus)? This gets a bit complex, because we also have to add LDA 68 (another Panaque sp aff maccus) to the mix in order to cover the...

Re: Indian Almond Leaves.
I have them in my Panaque maccus tank. And they eat them like guppies eat flakes. A bit expensive food, but not a problem for Peckoltia's i guess.

It is, it is... I allways enjoy the sound of the scraping of wood when she eats. I just need more ;)

Re: Panaque maccus companions
Ok, those replies were very helpful, thank you all. At the moment i have only one P. maccus female, trying to get some more... In the mean time, I will add some more wood to the tank. And if the parameters are stable I will try to find C. marthae . I would like to have some life in the middle zone o...

Panaque maccus companions
Hi there,
I am planning to make a biotope tank for my Panaque Maccus. Besides this Panaque, i want to keep some schooling fish. Does someone know what species of tetra live in the same biotopes as Panaque Maccus? I am especially interested in smaller tetras.
Regards,
Thijs
