Re: Sun cats?
I have a 8-10 inch suncat in a 100 gallon tank with 2 blue gill, a jack dempsy, a 4 inch hopolo cat, 4 inch pim, a 6 inch channel cat and a 5 inch "clown catfish". None of these fish are getting beat up. Before I moved him to this 100 gallon, when he was smaller, he lived in a 20 long and ...

Re: Compatible species
He does resemble a flowerhorn...Just going by what i was told. JD is smaller, about 5 inches and he is in the pipe and the Pleco is in the middle of the wood, you can see his eye reflection. I had a striped ralph. with my ART and he did well, although he only got to about 4 inches. I tried to put in...

Re: horabagrus brachysoma (sun cat, golden red tail)
I just moved my Suncat into a 100 gal tank with a Pleco, Jack Dempsey and a Blue Texas Cichlid. The blue Texas wouldn't leave him alone. He didn't outright attack him he just kept poking at him and making him swim around. I had to move him back into the 20gal, he was bruised and scratched up. Though...

Re: Asian Red Tail help
I took the h2o sample the fish store and it checks out fine....guess he just got rowdy
How long can a fish live outside of water? When I picked him up he was sticky but not dry. His gills and mouth were closed pretty tightly too.

While I was at work today my wife called me crying hysterically and screaming. Apparently art jumped out of the tank and was laying on the floor!! Dont know how he did it, there's only a 2 inch gap in the back for the filter. This was at 115pm. I flew home and he was still alive! I tossed him back i...

o i forgot to ask: WHats the best way to remove this lil bugger from his humble abode? Do i use a net? Manhandle him out? Last time i moved him he was 10 inches and it was a pain. I used a little net but now hes big, i have a regular fishin net that has no knots, its more like basketball jersy mesh.

Re: Asian Red Tail help
Well aRTis doing much better. He is eating normally and swimming around. I did get that 100gallon tank. It is 6foot long and18x18 inches square. It came with a tetra whisper 5, i might have to supplement that, at least a pump to move the water. I need to get a heater, with a heater cover. I think in...

Re: Asian Red Tail help
I am working on getting a 100g with stand hood and whisper filter for $300. Im kind of limited by budget. The seller states it is 6ft X 19 inches X 18 inches. Re: Asian Red Tail help
can i use crayfish and clams that i catch from local streams and creeks? I didnt know they could eat clams and such. you would need a tank that is about 6 x 12 feet in base, and at least 4 foot deep. I'd start thinking about where you're going to build the base for it now... I have toyed around,half...

Any bigger tank and it will have to go to the basement. Im out of room upstairs but I like having him around to look at. How big of a tank is big enough? Asian Red Tail help
I have an 18in long Asian Redtail. He/she (not sure) is about 6-8 years old. I feed him feeder goldfish and sinking pellets and he is pretty active, even begging at night for food. About 3-4 days ago I noticed on his left side 2 broken barbels and an eye injury. There are no tank mates so i can only...
