My three L14's used to come out all the time when they were younger. Now with age they seem to be finding their favorite spots in the tank and come out usually when food is present. They are always more active at this time then at any other time. It seems easier to feed them when the lights are off ...

Cory. sterbai

Anyone successful in spawning these guys? I have a breeding group which I have found at least one egg of. I am going to try to seperate them into their own 30 gallon and go from there. Any suggestions would be great to hear. Thanks

Seems a bit high for a 4-5" mostly black fish but this my opinion. I'm sure the species is nice, since it is a Pseudacanthicus species it should reach about 10" in size or slightly larger. So be ready for that, if you want a smaller species you might look for any Peckoltia, Hypancinstrus o...

With water changes done at least once a week, a proper sized aquarium (royal plecos get 10"+), proper diet and water chemistry, it should take about 6-8 years to get most of their growth in size. Even afterwards the fish will do more growing. Expect to have the fish for 20+ years as well. Most ...

Hrm....if I ever sell my breeding colony I will let you know how much they go for. I think what I may do is try to raise up some more babies and eventually pair them off. Who knows, maybe one day zebra pleco pairs will be a normal site to see. One can always dream can't they?

So the question is are you selling the 25? And for how much? Just curious as to how much they are going for and if the cost has increased. Good to here they were 2-3 inches. Someone else said they were getting their's in at 1" which is distrubing to me unless they are tank raised. If they aren'...

I tried algae waffers once just to see if they would eat them, they sat in the tank until the next day after which I did a water change and pulled them out. Try to feed meaty foods heavy on the protein. Most foods are high in protein anways but anything for carnivores is great. Try to make sure it i...

I should also mention current. They love current a lot. Even the young I have swim against the current although I should say I do not have much in the form of water flow. 300 gph in a 75 is not as much as it could have but the tank does get a turn around of 5 times an hour. A better turnover would b...

Since we are on the subject of zebra plecos here what I feed mine: bloodworms (a few times a week), brine shrimp (a few times a week), O.S.I. micro-pellets (main ingredient is krill meal), new life spectrum pellets and tetramin/sera flake foods. This diet seems to have worked out really well for the...

I believe that zebra plecos do well on a wide range diet consistant with meaty foods. I feed bloodworms, brine shrimp, OSI micropellets (love these), new life spectrum and tetramin flake food. They seem to take it all and the diet must be fine with those foods as I have baby zebras now. So saying no...

Plecos are typically cave spawners, I would not think that substrate would be required for breeding or housing in general. Surprisingly, my zebra plecos spawned over 12" off the bottom of the tank, far away from the substrate. However substrate might help the fish more at ease, so the light isn...
