Re: syno tanganicae

Hey, well It looks like irsacae to me. I mean I support Richard with his opinion about a mess in taxonomy but I've seen really a lot of irsacae and I would say this fish is irsacae. I've probably something that would turn out to be tanganicae but it doesn't grow :). And my fish really have this tria...

Re: Spotted synos from Kafue river, Zambia.

Hello, well Richard I must say that you were really good at ID :). I'm pretty sure you were right about 2 species (macrostoma and nebulosus) however thamalakanensis is imho not in imported fish. Look at the fins - they are much more spotted in Seeger's specimen abd humerall process is massive triang...

Re: Spotted synos from Kafue river, Zambia.

Hello, hmm nebulosa looks alike for sure Richard. Macrostoma maybe however I was unable to find good photo of this species and thamalakanensis is a possibility only because it comes from Kafue river system (it is huge area) since it doesn't look very familiar with photos above. I will take a better ...

Spotted synos from Kafue river, Zambia.

Hey, well fish have arrived. I have totally no clue about species. They were labelled as Synodontis nigromaculata and Synodontis macrostigma however I doubt they really are this species (macrostigma maybe but nigromaculatus not). In my opinion there are 3 or even 4 species but things are complicated...

Re: Breeding Liosomadoras Morrowi

Hey, as always Sid has some great arguments. But what you are feeding your worms is up to you. When you want to gutload them you just feed something better than carbage - that's true for everything except waxworms. They only fed on hive contents (I don't know the word for it but it is made out of wa...

Hey,

you may try wax worms as food. Bigger fish, reptiles and amphibians just love them. But they have high fat and sugar contents so not too much ;).

Hello, I'm not in Loricariidae so I have few questions after new posts in this topic. Is this fish a subspecies of H. zebra? Or you just speculate that it may be? I wonder why only 8 fish have been exported? Maybe it is just a variation of normal H. zebra that occurs once in the while in nature and ...

Hey Shane, happy birthday :). You may try older books from 1980-1990. I have few books about amphibians from back then. Hey, for Horabagrus brachysoma catelog says 45cm which is maximum size reached by this species. Re: Synodontis question

Hey,

well there will be some differences imho. Mostly in tooth, shape of jaws (colerated with growth of muscles) and other things, mostly in behaviour, colerated with feeding.
But without really carefull checking you won't be probably able to tell difference between f0 and f1 fish :).

Hello, yes huge catfishes are amazing in look and character but common person just won't be able to keep them.
