Re: ID "spotted" corydora
Many people believe that catfish, or in particular Loricariidae and Corydoradinae are algae eaters, some loricariidae are pure vegetarian but others are pure meat eaters, so giving them all the same diet will cause long term problems. Corys are not vegetarian they are omnivores and mainly feed on mi...

Re: Anchor Worm
I have seen these quite often on Cory fins, I think they are a form of Flagellate.
A little salt will usually get rid of them.

Re: ID corydoras green laser or golden stripe?
The whole image has a green cast to it, making the fish difficult to be sure. for CW009 the stripe is bright metalic green. CW010 (gold laser) has olive colored fins and a golden yellow to orange stripe. There is a comparison image here

CoryfanAad,
Sorry not good advice to feed Corys high protein foods unless young growing fry.
Feed quality commercial food by all means but not the high protein types that are made for Discus and the like. live or frozen foods are good especially Daphnia.

Re: ID corydoras
It looks more like C. agassizii in that image, the problem is there are 3 or 4 species from the same location that look similar and as they grow the patterns change which adds even more confusion.

I would say C. agassizii in front and possibly C. delfax in the rear, but the image is not the best.

Re: Black Corydoras Schultzei schooling behavior
The reason most fish 'shoal' together is in defense of possible predatory activity. Also it is a numbers thing. To me 6 fish would not constitute a 'shoal' nor would they react as such. A larger group 20 or 30 would make up a small 'shoal'. However in a safe environment the instinct to group togethe...

Re: 2 Aspidoras spp. spawned
I will come back in on this discussion and add my 2pence worth. The biggest problem I have with the main characteristic defining CW052 is the black caudal fin in juvenile specimens, which fades out into 3 or 4 vertical bars when mature. The colour patterns of mature specimens of both species is very...

Andrew,
I have C35's an although it is a year away, I can bring you some at the next AACC. Also Frank Falcone (NJ) may still have A. albater and possibly others.

Well done Andrew, good to see you have finally joined the catfish breeding fraternity.

Two new undescribed Corydoradinae species
I have issued CW-numbers for 2 recently discovered undescribed Corydoradinae species. CW080 this is a saddle-snouted species from the Madre de Dios drainage in South western Peru. CW081 is a short snouted species from the Rio Icana an affluent of the upper Rio Negro, Brazil. In accordance with Marko...

Young C. agassizii, I do not know of any recorded breeding of C. robustus, but the one feature that would be distinguishable this species is the dorsal/body band, in C. robustus it starts in front and below the dorsal spine and passes diagonally across the dorsal fin and not virtical like in your pi...

Re: Breeding corydoras C 102
With any Cory species sand is a must, and for straight snouted species like C102 and C. leopardus I would have it at least 3/4" deep. Although neither of these species have been recorded as being bred in aquaria there is a possibility that they spawn at night and may even deposit their eggs in ...

At the first sign of the "Red Blotch" My advise is to make a 75% or larger water change, and then add a full dose of API's Melafix and a fairly strong air stone. If things have not improved, make a second 50% water-change after two days and repeat the melafix dose. With this treatment I ca...

Re: Corydoras ID
If the exporter can be more precise with the catch location then there is a possibility to identify it or ay least give it a recognition CW-number. Having said that there is C061 from Venezuela that looks pretty close, and a lot of fish from there ccome into the hobby through Brazil.

Difficult to be exact, but based on the colour of the stripe on the back I would go for CW038. In C113 it has a greenish tinge.

Re: Corydoras question marks
CW010 is distinctly different from CW014/CW023, the have a different body shape and the strips are also different. With the "Lasers" Cw009 & CW010 the stripe is pretty much a constant width along the length of the body, with CW014/CW023 the stripe actually starts as a prominent shoulde...

Possibly C154, but without accurate catch location information it is very difficult to identify many Cory species.
