Unavailable species (most published in aqua, International Journal of Ichthyology)
Amblyceps motumensis , A. taretlokensis and Parachiloglanis paliziensis , all three published in aqua, International Journal of Ichthyology, don't appear to be valid names as the journal apparently went electronic in 2021 and these names weren't registered with ZooBank. Glyptothorax pedunculatus al...

Re: Ken's Fish Feed - Experiences?
This one looks interesting, I like the sound of most of the ingredients. Although, I don't understand why choline or biotin is added. A small update, the catfish I keep go crazy over Ken's Premium Multi Worm Sticks. Even R.chrysea , which seemingly don't like to leave their caves, come right out to...

Why not post your photos here? Are they too big? Oh no, I just didn't want to photobomb your thread. Besides, they're not good pics anyway. :icon-redface: :icon-lol: I got a nominal progeneious from Wesley as well. It doesn't look like any other Tor I have kept or seen. Re: My Public Aquarium: exhibit blues - how to make them?
Maybe it is khudree? Yes, blue fins plus dorsal profile says T.khudree , the image of the dead fish also resembles this species. However, I wouldn't be able to comment on whether these are hybrids or not, its almost impossible IMHO. I find the dorsal profile of T.malabricus and T.khudree to be quit...

Re: My Public Aquarium: exhibit blues - how to make them?
Are these black bands in the caudal, anal, and dorsal a reliable ID trait of Tor malabaricus? Our 2 footer alleged malabaricus has them, albeit they are rather faint but still discernible. Yeah, T.malabaricus is one of the few Indian mahseer that can be reliably identified and the black on the fins...

A rubbish pic of one of the T.malabaricus I currently keep (6-7" TL), notice any difference in the caudal fin?Viktor Jarikov wrote: ↑06 Mar 2022, 19:38 As for your specimen, it might help to see the photos of what you are talking about.

-- 2x Tor malabaricus. One looks right, similar to our adult malabaricus. The other looks "generic", most common mahseer, like douronensis, soro, etc. Hey Viktor, great video there as usual!! You suspect the caudal fins of the Mahseer are getting nibbled off? The T.malabaricus I keep have...

I'm not sure what went wrong, I did what I usually do which is right click, copy image URL and then link it in the post. Maybe it's a Google photos issue? I'll check out if there are settings that need to be changed at my end.

The 2021 collection season in India bought out many native species I hadn't seen or kept in a very long time. I decided to setup a tank for these dainty fish. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/4QhUmbykKHbeCNgR4TbksC6q11f01Yb9nbZQk2XoZHgz9uBk2v5Bhhs8PMQoOUK64S0duI4JCLLiRcSvLcQO6fm07bVx9aVmfs8HBHRFaKE...

Re: Ken's Fish Feed - Experiences?
There is an old saying, "You get what you pay for." Absolutely, agreed. As an example, I got roughly 1.6 kgs (3.5 pounds) of mixed Ken's Feed for ~ INR 3000 (USD 36). Over here in India, I get a kilo (2.2 pounds) of Tetra Beauty pellets for INR 1350 (USD 18), 500 gms (1.1 pounds) of Hikar...

Re: Ken's Fish Feed - Experiences?
I'm not super happy with the ingredients of Ken's fish foods but the price is right. Perfectly sums up how I feel too. All my fish readily take the all 3. Great to note that. I wonder if there is any correlation between pungency of the feed and fish accepting it? I've never used Ken's products. Don...

Ken's Fish Feed - Experiences?
I procured a few bags of Ken's Premium Krill Pellets, Ken's Premium Catfish Pellets and Ken's Ultra Earthworm Sticks sometime back. The latter two were rejected by all bagrid catfish and only mahseer consume (doesn't really count as they try to and will eat anything) these. The catfish started takin...

Re: Minimum tank size for Erethistes (Hara) horai
The minimum size I would recommend for a small group is 24*12*12 (inches). Fish like Dario spp., Badis spp., Lepidocephalichthys spp., Rasboroides spp. etc all make good tankmates. That said, a bunch of Pseudolaguvia were exported under the label 'Elongate Moth Catfish' recently. There is a chance y...
