Re: For the Gearheads-what am I
but the 3 seats is a straight copy of the McLaren F1 Mercedes knicked it as well. But I guess the name Matra Simca Bagheera doesn't mean anything to you, does it? Wow, that's a blast from the past! It does actually Marc, I used to see an 'S' version quite often. Didn't realise it was 3 seats though...

No, no ,no, Sid. You should have this:

Much more fun and equally as practical (although I don't suppose that's relevant).

Re: For the Gearheads-what am I
It's nice, but the 3 seats is a straight copy of the McLaren F1 and to me the whole thing looks like a mish-mash of other cars. The back and sides remind me of a Koenigsegggggg, and the front a kind of cartoony Ferrari.
If only I had the money for it to be a problem what whether to buy one or not!

Re: Baby Plecos keep dying!
Assuming we're talking 20 US gallons that's 75 litres gross, maybe 65 litres or so of water. It's probably overstocked. You really should pay attention to Barbie and BGF's requests and get the water parameters properly measured and post them.

We had a preserved two-headed lamb in the Zoology department at Bangor University. I don't think it's that uncommon generally.

If they are truly wild caught then as Mats says, internal parasites are quite likely. Do you see it feed?

Adding new species to "my cats".
Not sure if this comment belongs here or if it should be a separate topic but I think it's strange that you can only add a species from the catelog page and not when you are in 'my cats'

It is very similar but the tail shape looks different to me. Mine are rounded, the lobes don't come to a point.
Edit: I think the eyes are different too.

@ Shane - Yes, thanks Shane it makes perfect sense. I just thought that in this case as one species was already in the cat-e-log it was probably worth adding the missing few. @ Mats - As far as I am concerned, yes resolved. I'm moving this to "Cat-eLog issues", as it's not really about "Taxonomy & Science News"... Mats I thought that might be the case! I'd estimat that there are around 1000 species of catfish that "could be added if we wanted to". Mats I am aware, of course, that you ...

Not sure if this is the right place, so please move it if it isn't. I stumbled across this Genus whilst searching 'Hoplo'. One other piece of advice if you decide to carry on and get these. If for any reason you have to handle them, watch out for, in particular, the dorsal spine. I can tell you from experience that it is very painful to have it stuck under your fingernail

What makes you think the fish are being eaten alive and are not just dying due to something that got out of kilter whilst you were away? Dead fish will be eaten by pretty much anything.

Out of interest, how confident are you in the ID Birger? There are no pics of this species in the catelog, so even one with a partial dorsal fin might be an improvement.gonnaenodaethat wrote:i have a lufirae in my tank. I think he's 18/19 years old. Re: once again Ichthyo
Certainly looks likely from what can be seen in the pictures. I would have thought the low temperatures you normally keep the fish at (19-20C) could be a contributing factor. Why not raise the normal temp. a few degrees once you have cured the white spot?
