That's amazing footage (even though it's upside down!). Good luck with raising them.

Aren't Cory's fairly salt intolerant?

Re: L082?
So definitely not L082 then. Interesting too that despite feeding very well they have hardly grown at all and seem to have reached maximum size at around 8cms, unless they are VERY slow growing. Fits quite well with L201.

Re: L082?
Hi All
Finally managed to catch one of them on the front glass while I had the camera to hand. Hope it's a good enough photo. ID anyone?

Red Tails @ Maidenhead
Was in Maidenhead at Crew's Hill yeterday and they had several 4" or so red tails for sale. I was quite surprised as I thought they were a bit of a 'no-no' in the trade now. What is the current thinking on red tail trade?

Re: L082?
Thanks guys. I'll try and get some pics of the mouth given the chance, but I don't really want to try and catch them as I'd have to take loads of stuff out of the tank. I can tell you they consume vast amounts of green stuff - algae, courgette, cucumber, etc. I've never seen so much green poo!

Re: Cory Fry Tank
Hi Dennis
I'm no expert but are you using pure RO water for the fry tank? If so, watch the pH as it can collapse very rapidly.

L082?
I bought these as L082, but I'm not sure that is correct. Can anyone ID them please? Sorry the pics aren't great but shy new fish and a curved (Trigon) glass don't help!

Re: L082 data sheet
Ooo, they are similar aren't they! I'd say they are L082 as they have the longer nose, but what is the defining difference?
They're a bit shy as they are new but I'll try and get some snaps. They are only about 6-7 cms long at the mo, paid £60 for the last three in stock.

L082 data sheet
I just bought 3 of these little beauties and thought it might be worth adding to the data sheet that they are great algae eaters

Wildwoods - L183 Ancistrus Dolichopterus
Wildwoods are saying they currently have stock of the above. Has anyone been in recently and can confirm they are true A. Dolichopterus?

Re: Schwartz's corys' barbels have worn away and two have died
Not familiar with this specific substrate in the UK, but for soft mouthed Corys that like to dig around for food the substrate must be soft/rounded. My guess is that your substrate is a sharp sand which is rubbing away at the Corys mouths as they go about their daily business. You might be able to f...

I seem to remember that the 'scaleless' catfishes can't tolerate much copper, which is often used in aquatic medicines

Re: Goes well with Discus
I don't have personal experience, but I think Ancistrus dolichopterus would work. Perhaps someone who has kept this species could advise? Now I'm confused - searching for a local source of A. dolichopterus online and I found this pic: a hoplogenys.jpg A. dolichopterus they show as much less attract...

Thanks everyone for the input, although I don't appear to be any closer to a solution! Larry - congrats on the beautiful Discus - you've done exactly what I was hoping to do and have healthy (breeding if I'm lucky) Discus in a planted aquarium. Do you which strain red turqs are derived from? I nearl...

Goes well with Discus
Hi All I'm new to this forum, so please excuse me if this has been answered previously. I have had a look through previous postings but can't see anything that specifically answers my question which is: I'm looking for recommendations for good algae eaters that won't grow too big (maybe 4 or 5 inche...
