Thanks Richard, I guess I won't be able to achieve that with having a cichlid community tank.
Mats, it was a rough estimation. I'd say the firemouth is definitely 2-3, but the texas is around 3-4.

Re: New to corys, good dither for plecos?
I did much research on those cichlids I maintain. Granted some of them can stray from the norm, but in general those cichlids do well with plecos. I'd say the texas and macaw are in the teenager stage, with the rainbow being almost a full adult. The rainbow doesn't pay attention to anything, even fo...

Re: New to corys, good dither for plecos?
Green Texas cichlid, Macaw cichlid, Rainbow cichlid, and a firemouth cichlid.
Of the bunch, the only one that appears to be the alpha is surprisingly enough the Macaw cichlid. It's surprising because of the bunch, those are considered the most peaceful. I cant figure it out.

The cichlids I keep have a peaceful to semi-aggressive temperment. I dont keep Oscars or JDs or any other "dead red" aggressive fish.

New to corys, good dither for plecos?
I had a renown breeder tell me that corys are good to help settle plecos and make them feel more comfortable. I'm going to need a medium sized species to keep with medium sized cichlids. What should I get and will they steal alot of food away from my plecos?

Re: Things Got A Little Blue Around Here Last Night
The exact same thing happened to me Andy with my L200 and my L190. I had them for about 2 months, then the ich came and infected the 2 catfish plus the plecos. The cichlids were fine. I treated the tank with just salt and heat. Both plecos died, and the 2 catfish survived after I started to use heav...

Re: Help one of my 333 is wounded
My L128 just got a wound similar to this. He was scratching himself on a sharp rock in the tank. I removed the rock, but he has a white spot above his head. Its not red, or stringy, its just white.

I have a 250 watt Jager heater and I'm happy with it so far. I have it vertical just past the line and it hasn't failed me. I just never felt the need to submerse it.

Stressed cichlid?
I know its a catfish forum, but I had gotten a shipment in from renown breeder "Jeff Rapps," and my rainbow cichlid hasen't eaten for three days. I've tried veggies, cichlid pellets, catfish sinking pellets, flakes and he hasn't had anything. Now he's starting to scratch himself "flas...

I understand. I haven't seen any aggression at all in my tank. If it starts then I will quickly remove the ram. There are no signs of stress either.

Re: Is it a MUST to have CO2 for a tank with plants?
Naw no mollys in my tank :) http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/cichlid/texas.php I have the "green" texas cichlid and it seldom grows bigger then 8 inches. I'm banking on the fact that mine till top out at 6 inches, it's currently at 2 inches. Perhaps I'll be wrong, but if I am I'll for sure ...

Re: Is it a MUST to have CO2 for a tank with plants?
I currently have that setup of fish in one tank at the moment. I've established hiding places for them, and right now everyone is peaceful. I chose that mix of fish due to the similar sizes and tempermants of the fish. The Escondido cichlid is by my research a more peaceful breed of the Texas cichli...

Re: Is it a MUST to have CO2 for a tank with plants?
Very informative, thank you. Will small trace amount of salts affect the plants? I'm looking for fish first, plants second. I've got two T5 bulbs on the tank already. I'm afraid you lost me with the "excel" and "no light dosing" parts haha. My cichlid setup is: 1 Macaw cichlid, 1...

I would like some healthy swordplants and anubias. Ive got both now with some anachris. The tank size is a 75 gal, and i have a medium budget. I'd like a beautiful showtank with my plecos and SA cichlids.

I have about 3-4 live plants, but I've noticed they arent growing much....do I need CO2 to keep them healthy and growing? I've got 0 knowledge of how to go about setting up a CO2 tank.

L128 PH sensitive?
Hi there,
My tap water is naturally in the mid 7 range for PH, will that affect the L128 much if at all? How important is getting the PH dead on?

Well I used 1 tblespoon for each 5 gallons, maybe a tad bit more, as well as elevating the temp to 85-86 degrees. I'm certain the oxygen levels were fine, but I'm keying in on the change in temp, along with the salt. I tried to go the natural route instead of using medications. I heard medications w...
