No, I haven't. And given the fact that my breedingattemps with characins almost always end in failure, chances are slim to none

After 2 weeks, which includes a short trip abroad, there are still little strigata's alive and doing the same thing as mentioned before.Only a few survived, but have grown. They're all black and laying on the bottom of the container all day.
I do hope some will grow up!

Re: Which Auchenipterids are being kept by PC members?
This may sound like the easy way out - and it probably is - but I'm not going to wait for outbreak number X Knowing you as a keen and responsible fishkeeper it was probably not that easy to put them to sleep... However: Of all scenarios this is apparently the least bad choice. Thumbs up for the fut...

Re: Borneo: Sungai Malinau drainage (North Kalimantan)
I looked it up in The freshwaterfishes of North Borneo by Inger en Chin: Nematabramis everetti.
Males seem to develop small tubercles scattered over the body end rays of fins.
The book says this species is the most abundant cyprinid in the small streams of eastern Borneo.

Re: Freshwater Fishes of Suriname - new book
Eventually I had to have this book and ordered a used paperback. Cheap and in a good condition.
It's full of info and... fish.
Although a lot of photo's are of dead fish in alcohol it's still a nice book to look and read in on a lazy fridaynight in front of the aquarium.

Yes, that is my experience as well.
Live crickets? What about fruitflies? My Tatia like those.
Temp is 26 C now.
Did you collect them at night? Main river or in creeks?

Denticetopsis
Just picked up a nice group of 5 Denticetopsis. Apparently D. seducta. This is the second time I keep this species after an ich-outbreak killing my previous 2. I am very happy to see them again!! I wasn't aware of a namechange.
But knowing or seeing the difference between Centromochlus and/or tatia is way beyond my knowledge.

French Guiana is good. I went there last Christmass: Good infrastructure, lots of fish and with the right permit you can bring your fish with you back home.

Re: The South-American Knifefishes thread
What were their general care requirements? Feeding, temperament etc. I kept them in water of about 26 degrees. Water: soft and acidic. ( 2 KH pH 6 ) They ate black, white and red mosquitolarvea but, as far as I can remember, dry food wasn't accepted. Dormant during the day in floating plants and ac...
