You are absolutely too modest. There's nothing wrong with your English or your skills.
Afaics your specimen looks quite different (read: much nicer) compared to the ones in the video.

Re: Comfortable home for Zamora catfish?

Thanks Mark! I would prefer to keep the tank more natural also. Maybe I will try to drill the holes bigger in the piece of bog wood I tried before. If the burrito is gone they may use it.... Of course my husband will complain about me dulling his drill again lol. I actually added it for the plecs b...

Re: Comfortable home for Zamora catfish?

I find the emphasis on the use of 'seems' as almost a sarcastic implication that 'the noob is types before he thinks'. I have no idea what this is supposed to mean. But don't bother explaining. As most of your postings show an arrogance that irritates me, I will ignore them from now on. There's a b...

Re: Comfortable home for Zamora catfish?

You're welcome. As I am rather opposed to artificial objects in a tank, I have been using wood and plants in my tanks for decades. My Zamoras have always done very well in settings like this. If given enough hiding places, they will certainly not become stressed. In your case they may be a little co...

Re: Comfortable home for Zamora catfish?

Seems my E.gameroi are the odds ones out and are too enigmatic for the usual woodcats behaviour... Pipes, caves, logs, coconut halves, dark shabowy corners and the hideaways underneath the XL catappa leaves - all ignored. Instead I've caught them enmeshed in Vallis, entangled in riccia, surrounded ...

Re: Comfortable home for Zamora catfish?

The best thing you can do is get that burrito-thing out of your tank and leave it out. If you have so much wood, they will soon find other places to hide without having to sit like sardines in a tin can and - like you say - without the risk of hurting each other. PS: I would also get the other ceram...

The T. taeniatus are mating and the Spinipterus otorongo are trying to mate.
It's been quite a nasty episode, but at last things seem to be right again.

No, I would not do that for the time being. You might consider (at least two, definitely not one!) extra specimens of your species, although I think they are hard to find (it looks like S. "galinea" to me; see stamp in Synodontis eupterus ), but you must allow your fish a lot of recovery t...

Re: rescue with a synodontis ill-treated

That depends on your taste and the question if you want your tank to be biotope-correct (in this case: African fishes only).
I think the 12 A. caudalis will be sufficient to keep him company. Mind you, he doesn't need too many food competitors.

they suggested : a couple of Hemichromis or Benitochromis or Chromidotilapia. You've come a long way from turning this poor zombie into a nice fish again. When I was still a member of the Nederlandstalige CichlidenForum (= Dutch Cichlid Forum), you kept Calophysus. Do you still have these? Also: if you still are in touch with Alex/Sidguppy you could ask him about the Chrysichthys. He might know better than I do. And another also: are the above fish by...

Re: moonlight lighting any use/good?

I take it we're (still?) talking about moonlight led lamps in a small (40 cms or thereabout) setting. For that is what I use. In the times before leds I once bought a TL (58 W; 150 cms) in the blue colour that is specifically used for marine tanks. Well, the effect it had on my fishes was dramatic. ...

Re: moonlight lighting any use/good?

Whole tank red lighting does not seem to illicit the same response as a point source light a small torch and the fish can be seen to emerge from their caves and move and feed quite readily (so its a pity I blew the transformer and am now back to only white/blue options) And I would be very surprise...

Second fish: ?

Re: Amaralia hypsiura stocking...

I assumed that Friel , who did his study in 1992*, took a picture of his "new" species. That could still well be the case, but I do not know that for sure. I could be wrong there, no problem. I merely wanted to point out that "oviraptor" is still undescribed (hence its name in qu...

Re: Amaralia hypsiura stocking...

Well now all I want to know is why a picture of Amaralia "oviraptor" is in the CLOG as Amaralia hypsuira "Dorsal view"? That's because "oviraptor" is not (yet) regarded as a valid species by ichthyologists. For the time being Amaralia is considered monotypic (= consist...

Re: Which Auchenipterids are being kept by PC members?

The Ich has been beaten. All my fish are healthy and spotless again. So the white has gone, but the blue has (re-)entered: blue algae (Cyanophyta). Probable cause: with 17 fishes less (6 knife fishes, 10 Ageneiosus from 3 different species and 1 T. taeniatus), I have to feed less. It's as simple as ...

Re: moonlight lighting any use/good?

who has any experience with moonlight lighting in freshwater tanks? I saw a relatively cheap (40 euros) unit in a shop, and it seems a nice way of seeing a bit more of my l239's just after lights out. The shopowner claims that 'fish can't perceive the light', (which, curiously enough, can be bought...

I'm sorry to say, but their pattern is too nice to be Tatia dunni imo. If you have a chance to obtain them, go for it. You'll get a unknown species (again, imo). I agree with the ID of the fish on the first picture. This looks like a member of the complex. I couldn't tell you if it has got its own species name by now.
Wrt the second fish I think this could well be , based on the colour and pattern of that fish.
