Hoplosternum littorale was introduced into florida because people from trinidad and other places eat that fish (its part of their culture) But the farms fell apart so now theres a huge feral population in florida (although they are sort of hard to catch) About the cooked l...

I'm not an expert You're right, you're not. Leave the speculating to those better qualified. No, what I meant was I was just contributing my thoughts because I had one that looked like that. and I take back what I said before... its definitely not a hypostomus (too many rays to be a hypostomus) The...

Yes and no. Yes, there are feral populations in Florida, and no, while they are closely related to Corydoras , they don't really look like larger versions of them. Here is a pic of one of them in florida... it looks like a huge brown cory to me  http://www.floridaconservation.org/Fishing/image...

I have 4sidguppy wrote:their behaviour (except the breeding) is fairly similar though; it's a peaceful fish that loves to dig, eats wormy food when it gets the chance (like bloodworms, blackworms, tubifex etc) and does well in a group.
can you get a few more? if yes, do so. they're highly sociable.

In the first pic, the catfish was in the corner of hte specimen container so the nose looks a bit long. Its not really that long.

TFP places incorrect photos or no photo at all on their site often. A while back, I sent them an e-mail because they showed a photo of an L-046 with the description of an L-202. That situation was quickly corrected. That said, I did purchase some lovely, robust Otos from them. I see they sell "...

I'm new here and I'm not sure if this is allowed or not, but here is a link to a thread on another forum where people have some of them.

I think that they are artificially created because they are from different genuses.

When this guy (or girl I dunno how to tell) was given to me, I was told that it was a rubberlip Pl*co. When I did some research on it, I found that Bulldog Pl*co and L146 was a synonym (according to That Fish Place) Now that he grew a little in my tank, he doesn't look like a L146 or a Bulldog Pl*co...

erm that's NOT the way to take a pic of a fish. it's not only very hard to see what it is with all the fins and whiskers 'slimed together' like that, it's also very fish-unfriendly. just put it in a tiny fauna-box or acrylic tank filled with water and take a pic. my guess is some sort of Chrysichth...

Ictalurus punctatus and some other Native US corrections
Hi, I live in Massachusetts and the channel catfish, Ictalurus punctatus, is native to my state. On the Cat-E-log, it says that it is native to southern and western United states. I am in the Northeast. Here is a link to a fishing website with a list of the fish that can be caught in the Charles Riv...

Hoplosternum littorale Spawning Info

Here is qhat it says: SPAWNING HABITS - Males build floating nests in vegetation near shore that consist of bubbles covered with plant material. Eggs are released by the female below the nest. The male fertilizes them and ...
