I kept my mouth shut for the last few weeks, but in doing so, I actually allowed you to waste a large number of fish not any more there's a ton of topics by you and despite ALL the great advice here you still go at fish keeping like a stamp collection; one of every kind despite that several of the s...

actually i find it one of the great failings of the human design; teeth that don't fall out on a regular base because teeth that do, get replaced with fresh brand spanking new ones ask any shark! and that would omit the bane of my existence; the dentist. no more drillings, fillings, amalgame toxic w...

definitely not fixed this cloadflare is blocking PC, I think I could not get on the site by going the normal URL (www.planetcatfish.com) nor by using the forum URL I used google, typed a catfish species and took the long walk-around via the catelog once I got a catelog page up (in this case Hyalobag...

if you keep a cat or a dog or a baby, you'll be cleaning up poop every day
nobody ever stopped keeping those because of the poop issues....
so if you want to keep a Panaque, compare it to those
it comes with the fish

Re: What am I ?
Pterygoplichthys pardalis aka common Pleco gender is hard to see, when adult you could look at the genital papilla, but you'd need a few specimen to compare. it's also irrelevant, since the only way to breed these is by keeping several in a pond with muddy edges; the male will dig out a horizontal ...

how about some species of Cotoneaster?
blooms a lot, has berries, grows easily to 7', can be pruned in any shape you like, no spines and most varieties keep their leaves, especially in Scottish winters
which i think are more sogging rain and mud than extreme frost and snow, right?

Re: what are some good medications so have on hand?
Most would prefer to choose that route. It can cost 10X as much for plain rock salt packaged as "Aquarium Salt". Why pay so much when the chemically identical alternatives are so much cheaper? why first spend hundreds of dollars/euro's/pounds on fish and then when the fish get sick pinch ...

I mangled the sentence a bit
but I did add a : (what's that called in English? : )
because after the : I suggested
which likes slow moving water
I should have omitted the word "most", then it all seems logic

agreed I've tried em a few times, ages ago the first time this exact thing happened and back then I didn't have a clue why, either. the second time the food competition simply was too much other attampts were just as bad. haven't kept them in well over a decade and a half. tricky fish. rev up the current and the oxygen levels
it might very well be that they don't want to move out of the area where they can breathe.....
to make them go through the entire tank, I think you'd need to boost both current and oxygenlevel.

this is a fish that not only likes to graze, it must graze a Bristlenose can be compared to a horse, but one that's immune to colic. in order to stay healthy, it will graze on algae all day and most of the gut is filled with undigestible stuff. however, especially the common bristlenose can handle a...

formalin IS a dewormer, Mike Not really. It has almost no ability to penetrate the body wall of an animal; it is effective only against external parasites (and only external parasites with thin skin, e.g. flukes and ciliates, but not external parasites with a hard shell, like anchor worms or fish l...

formalin IS a dewormer, Mike and quite an effective one at that I wouldn't touch the stuff with a ten foot pole, though, not anymore. Yes, I'm quite sure I got the numbers right, because i measure it precise when I'm dosing . I think you're mixing percentage with promillage, Mats a liter is 1000 grams, not 100. you're missing a zero! :D seawater, depending on the sea, has a salinity of 2.9-3.8% salt per liter.... that's 29 to 38 g...

to cure white spot/ich (ichthyoptirius) with exit or esha is really old fashioned over here it's impossible as well; since the strains we got in the hobby are completely resistent against it unfortunately many fish, especially catfish, are not. esha and exit contain a lot of copper ions and many cat...

yeah, i meant trace elements, couldnt remember how it's called in english (we say sporen elementen) I always add a wee bit of salt when doing large waterchanges. not much, mind, we're not talking grams per liter or so; but say, about 30-50 grams when doing a 600+ liter waterchange. for the trace ele...
