Flagtail Catfish

I am considering the purchase of a small group of these, and was wondering - are they considered to be bottom dwellers (similar to corys), or are they more like glass cats or Debauwie cats ? Thanx for any help.

I D help please

I need the help of the people who are way more qualified than I am to ID this pleco. It's about 3" long, and I believe it is a female based on it's behavior. I am more interested in the species than the sex. Thank you very much. http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd161/campinkru/IMG_7225_zps59f...

Re: Looking for the best type of pleco for algae

I would say comandeer it back. Either that or go 1 up on him and get a nicer BN (fire red, green, calico long fin). Good luck.

Re: Looking for the best type of pleco for algae

Almost any species of bristlenose would do the job. They stay small, usually under 5", and are very easy to care for. I put 1 in every tank. Good luck.

Re: Mixing L340 and Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus

I currently keep L340s and fire red BNs in the same tank with no issues. The BNs are mainly vegetarians, true, but they do like a little variety. My BNs also get NLS Thera +, along with their algae wafers, zucchini and the likes. The 340s are mainly carnivores but will also munch on the zucchini and...

I would agree with Richard B. Plus those SAEs that are small now will eventually grow to 5" or so. Good luck.

L400 FRY

Hey gang. Snapped a coupla pics of 3 egg sacs with heads and tails that were recently booted from the cave. Scooped them up with the turkey baster and deposited them in the fry saver. This is their first spawn since late summer, so hopefully after a break, they are at it again. Enjoy. http://i220.ph...

Re: Good camera to photograph by fish.

I have a Canon SD700IS that I got about 4 years ago, and it takes good pics. It is small and compact, and it travels everywhere with me. It has a macro setting, as well as many others. Good luck. Yes, I am looking for a small group of L340s, probably 4, and definitely not fry. Please PM me if you have any available. Thank you.

Re: Breeding L240s - Tips ??

pleco rob, thanx. What type of shrimp do you use ? And FROZ silversides (thawed, of course) ? My temps are a bit higher, so I will lower them and see what happens. And Hikari wafers ? Algae wafers ? Thanx again.

Re: Breeding plecos?

Like the above poster mentioned, most (if not all) bristlenose plecos are very easy to breed. And they are usually the least expensive option for plecos. All you need is a male, a female, clean water, a place for them to lay eggs ( a cave is best), and just let them go. 1 male and 1 female is usuall...

Need help please

Don't know if an ID is possible in this light (blue light at night), but this pleco is not usually out. I have never seen it before. I thought I had only L104s and L340s in the tank. Here is a pic of a 340 I took just prior to this one. Thanx for any help. The 340 http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/...

Re: top 10 breedable plecos

From my own perspective, after my red ancistrus, the easiest plecos for me to spawn were L400s, L340s and L450s, all hypancistrus. I did nothing special, except give them clean water and food. They did the rest. Having a harder time with L104s, L240s and, of course, the dang zebras. Good luck.
