Assasin snails do eat other snails and dont reproduce so fast. Syno multi's i've been told eat snails.

Age of the fish is most important. Some times when mine wont spawn, i unplug heater for a day or so, that seems to work.

Age is more important than size. 3 years should be fine.Mine bred at only about 2 inches, but three years old.

i also believe it to be petricola because of straight lines of spots rather then spots anywhere.

Re: S. multi's fighting?

i have had 3 colonies of multis and most have had some skin missing right behind the dorsal fin. the male kinda holds on to the female right there.if you were to separate the M's and F's, they would heal in no time.

Re: S. multi setup

The Multi's will know what to do when the cichlids start to spawn. I have personally witnessed 3 different groups of multis spawning with about 7 different hosts. Just watch to see if there are too many cats. Sometimes with too many, the cichlids are too flustered to spawn.

I have used these pellets from Kens fish and they are great. They will make your wildcaught L #'s plecos rush out of their cave to eat.
