Hi catbrat.

I use copper beech tree leaves in my leaf litter tanks, have several whiptails spawning in them at the moment so they sem to like it ok.

I just boil them for twenty minutes or so then add to the tank when they have cooled.

Sand substate about 1cm deep.

I notice that if I have cut on my hand I feel a very slight electrical tingle on the cut when I place it in the water of my tanks, is this a sign of a fault of some sort in my electrics? or is it normal?

I also feed mine spirulina algae paste which they seem to like.

Buy some powdered spirulina algae from a health food shop and mix with water till it forms a paste.

I also agree, my nugget wouldn't leave my swords alone so I had to shift him from the tank, as soon as I did the damage to the sword leaves dissapeared.

Shifted him to a rock based 'river tank' with lots of current and no plants, he seems much happier there anyways

A bit off topic, but any idea why so many of these reports are military in origin ?? The US has a wildlife service of some sort dosnt it ? What interest would the military have in freshwater fish populations ?
