Re: Diego
For us that don't speak Portuguese, the post says: I need help identifying this catfish caught on the Capivari River in São Martinho - Santa Catarina / BR I am in doubt between: Liosomadoras & Auchenipterichthys I don't think it's either, and according to a search in the Capivari, there are no c...

Re: 5 x Trachelyichthys exilis
Me too, it's not like they are a regular fish seen, so am surprised they haven't gone as well. I guess it's mostly location, trying to find someone who lives local enough to want them! My regular LFS don't take trade-ins, and not sure I'd want them to go to the one that probably would!

Re: Please help me identify this 7.8" Pleco ID
It would be helpful to see a photo of the fish in the water as well, and if possible the underside against the glass to see the mouth shape?

Re: Tatia sp. hatsudo or Centromochlus macracanthus?
I actually planned on grabbing more of the sp. Peru however the shop I bought them from only had the one. as for the Spinipterus, I definitely might be able to grab a trio however since it is online I don't they'll garentee gender but I can ask. One last question about the Spinipterus though the cl...

Re: Tatia sp. hatsudo or Centromochlus macracanthus?
Again, as per my PM re: Spinipterus, if you can get more, grab at least two, 1 male and 1 female to make a trio.

Re: Tatia sp. hatsudo or Centromochlus macracanthus?
I am sure I've seen Centromochlus macracanthus for sale, or photos/video recently, but can't find it. I have a feeling they are normally much more slender fish, yours don't look 'right' but with nothing to compare to, I really can't say. Hopefully @The.Dark.One will get a notification to check this ...

Does look similar...it doesn't have the white trailing edge to the caudal fin seen in , but that's not to say it's not visible in the photo.

Re: Pleco ID
Is it a new addition? It looks very light considering the dark substrate? But IMO looks like a young , though more (brighter) pics may help confirm.

Re: Honeycomb and Thresher?
Can you count the rays in the dorsal fin? Second fish does look like a Pteryogoplichthys rather than a Hypostomus, ray count will determine which (former 12-13, latter 7-10 if memory serves). First fish does look like a good sized Red Thresher ( Squaliforma emarginata ) - be good to see the caudal f...

Re: Chaca chaca catfish
Banjos would be fine, but if you wanted something a bit more interesting, then you could look to see if your LFS can get some (Eel-tail Banjo). But as a bottom fish that is active, a shoal of Corydoras would be ideal.

Re: Tank mates. (need Help?)
Hi and welcome to PlanetCatfish OK, first question - what size tank? Lots of choice, depends on what you like? Pictus cats (better kept in a group) will need a good size tank and may take the food too quickly for the upside-downs to compete. If you go with the pictus, then avoid anything small, but ...

Re: What have I found?
Firstly, welcome to PlanetCatfish! IMO it's unlikely to be from an egg, more likely a fish that has stowed away in a piece of bogwood or some plant roots, but still an unusual looking fish. I have no idea what it is, but am 99.99% sure it's not ASTROBLEPIDAE if only from the branched barbels - these...

Re: Catfish compatability
I'd say you could also get one Bunocephalus coracoideus (or, as you said re: the whiptails, whatever species the LFS actually has, could be Bunocephalus colombianus and sometimes you might see Bunocephalus verrucosus ). With a sand base, it will bury itself a lot, and you may only ever see a tail bu...

Re: Disease of my blue Eye pleco P. Suttoni
Hi. Have you tested the water for ammonia, nitrite, nitrates and ph? You will need to get these measurements, but in the meantime, keeping the water clean, well filtered and highly oxygenated will help. Twice weekly water changes of 10-20% and deal with the results once you know them. Has anything c...

Re: Costatus vs Armulatus ? what is the difference
For many years, Platydoras costatus was the fish listed by suppliers and stores alike as the fish being sold. Only recently, it has come to light that actually the fish we all knew as P. costatus is in fact Platydoras armatulus , and P. costatus is not a fish that is collected or available much in t...
