Additional help would be appreciated

Coryman,

Can you also assist those of us who are in process of trying to spawn cories, what methods work best? Any suggestions of what to do before hand?

Thanks,

Scott

L-260 Here today. Sadly gone tomorrow.

Hi, I recently bought an L-260 yesterday at a Tropical Fish Auction in Metro-Detroit sponsored by GDAS. The fish was looking well when I wen to bed, when I awoke the L-260 was dead. :( As a result these are the options that I thought of: 1) Temperature below 74F in the Church Basement (Auction held ...

Belle Isle Aquarium Closing

All, If you are in the vicinity of Detroit, MI. This is your last chance to see this 100 year old gem. The City of Detroit thinks it is doing a wonderful thing by closing these doors of the Belle Isle in the next month. Freinds of the Belle Isle Aquarium (FOBIA) are trying to raise money to keep it ...

Algae eaters otos otos and maybe a bristlenose, or rubber nosed pleco...but you best keep onb the filtration! or y...

Zebra Otocincluses

I've been trying to breed these for some time. The tank has been with 6 of these guys and well planted. I believe it may be my food. I have been feeding them seaweed, zucchini, and algae disks. Is this the right type of food to get these Zebra Otos in the mood? Is there something that I might need t...

Habrosis are also a great pygmy type of Cory. They breed like rabits if you let them  The only one's you might not want are the Bearded Cory (use to be corydoras barbatus before the scientific name change). These guys are sensitive to temperatures getting to warm. We have 3 of them in a tropic...

 Exciting seem to be the "pygmy cories" There are 3 of them Habrosis, Hastosis, and Pygmaeus. The yseem to be a little bit more active. You might also want to check out the closely related Aspidorases. They seem to be (at a young age) very active.

Good Luck,

scleromystax Confusion

It's been a hectic 4 months for me, and I was really confused to see that Corydoras Barbatus is now Scleromystax Barbatus. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I'm not sure what the differences bewteen Aspidoras, Brochis, Corydoras, and Scleromystax are? Thanks, Bewildered and Confused, Scott :?

Check out the dwarf cories. I believe that c. hastatus and pygmaeus will swim at the mid-level. They are fairly small 1.5" max, and are more shoaling than the others. They are difficult to find, but well worth it. The C. Habrosis (another dwarf variety) breeds quite readily and I believe it is ...

I agree! The otos are very sensitive and I have caused them lots of pain and suffering from my own foolishness. Definitely, change out your water every day for a week. check the carbon (it absorbs the chemical) and feed the otos zuchini and algae disks.

Good luck!

I think I'd go with the otos. I have 4 zebra, 4 zebra (different markings), and 4 regular otos. They do a great job of algae eating and the supplemental zucchini and peas are devoured with abandon. I concur with the bristlenose.

I would also ask what type of Cichlids you have. If they are small and not the overly aggrressive (affrican type) you might get away with otos. But again the cichlids MUST BE SMALL and NOT VERY AGGRESSIVE

Good luck,

I hate to disagree with all of you, but the cyanide is added by some of the harvesters to slow the otos down. This comes from a reputable source - someone who actually observed these actions.
