But I can't tell what it is...

It could be L 71/181/249 (they're all the same species). They are probably the most common. But there are several species of black ancistrus with white spots. I don't think it's L 120/182 or sp. Rio Ucayali, as they are more brown with orange spots. L183 it most certainly is not. Neither is it L 107/184. As to the rest, I can't say.

Hi,

do you have a pic of the dorsal fin, the number of soft fin rays could be a clue to exclude some species.
