doubts on L270 reverse trio I have
As most of you already know I'm trying to get rid of some hypans species as I downsize the number of tanks I have to avoid crossbreeding/conflicts.
At a recent swap meet, one of the "customers" made a passing remark that the L270s I had was not the L270s but a lower xingu species.
What? Now I think about it. The younger male the biggest one I've had been growing out over the years does match the L270 still have more growing out to go and he's already bigger than the other two. The other two the male and female I got was from aquabid a year or two ago, can't remember but they since have not gained in size VS my male I've been growing out. Not even mm in size was gained by this pair. I'll separate them if I have to. If it is truly two different species.

Aren't the two small ones H. debilittera...? I'm not terribly familiar with L270 though.

They look like L129 to me because of the dots display from the top.

Pics are a little small....but bigger one L270 smaller two look L340....seem to have the big head to me. If you got them from snookn21 on aquabid last year as L129's, they are L340!

Re: doubts on L270 reverse trio I have
So we all are in agreement they're not L270s the two smaller ones
I did not get them from John (snookn21) I do get a lot of catfish from him only the L183 and the jaguar catfish I decided to keep.
I got the small pair before the L129s came flooding into market though. They're too small to be L129s so I didn't think they were L129s
Or L340 as I had L340 male for a while- a juvie male and was way bigger than this tiny pai are they supposed to be any bigger they didn't grow no joke the L046s grew compared to this pair. The L270 male keeps on growing.
I believe they're just at 2.25'' I will have to remeasure when I get the holding tanks sorted out again tonight.

There are definitely two different species in the group - the larger one is has no spots at all.

Re: doubts on L270 reverse trio I have
Thanks for posting better pictures.
I still believe that they are L129 and the one L270 Stuby (Chuck) was on the money.
I've added a few pictures of some L270 that I had last year, I hope it helps.
