Pygmy Cories

Hi there,
I'm going to be setting up a 60l tank (15gallons) for some pygymy cories. If I had a colony of 15, would that work? I know that there are 3 types, but I am assuming that it is pretty much the same for all of them? I'll have a sand substrate with java fern and java moss attached to rocks. I'm also thinking of putting in a pair of Bolivian Rams - do you think that they would prevent the pygmys from breeding? I think I'll get some shrimp too as I love their personalities!

Personally, i think 60 l is too small for Microgeophagus ramerezi

You better stick with shrimps, or even better neither shrimp nor ramirezi

I think 15 gallons is too small for a pair of Mikrogeophagus altispinosus. They are actually quite a decent size when fully grown. Much bigger than the 5cm or so quoted in most books.

Yes, on Wikipedia it says they get to 4 inches, which is around 10cm. That size group of cories should make them very happy and secure.

When I had a pair of Blue rams in my 35 gal mixed cory tank, I would have to move the corys into their own tank if I wanted to breed them. When the rams died, the corys started breeding in their 35 gal, including my pygmy corys.

Shrimp love breakfast with egg

I raise hundreds of shrimp along side my Corydoras habrosus and C. hastatus. They don't touch the Corydoras eggs.
I started off with 10 each of the Corys about 8 months ago and spawn raise them in permanent 20 gal longs which they share with shrimp.
Now I have over 100 C. hastatus after selling a couple dozen and 75 C. habrosus where once there were 10.
Cherry shrimp are living with the C. hastatus and Crystal Red Shrimp live with the C. habrosus. Neither effects the others' production of young.

damn I wish I lived near you lol

concerning the shrimps, I knew someone who raised cherry shrimps and pygmys together, it wasn't the shrimps eating the cory eggs, it was the corys eating the baby shrimps Did your cherry shrimps multiply with the corys?
