When corys go too far

Post by bekateen »

Woke up this morning to see a spawning frenzy of bronze corys in progress in my community tank. By the time it was over, this was the result: Two of my banjo cats are smattered with cory eggs (this photo shows only one egg and a piece of gravel; there are more eggs on the other side of his body, but he wouldn't turn around for this photograph. The other banjo swam away to hide... undoubtedly ashamed).

I don't know whether this says more about the frenzy of the corys or the camouflage of my banjo cats. :))

Cheers, Eric

Thanks. This banjo didn't suffer the worst of it. The other banjo has eggs spread over its dorsal fin. Did the cory mistake its dorsal fin for a leaf?

Stupid corys! LOL

So the real question is, will the banjo cats be good foster parents even though they were (presumable) not consulted or will they abuse the children :)) 8-}

I wish! No, within an hour or so, both banjos had dug themselves under the gravel. I'm pretty sure all the attached eggs were either destroyed or at the very least buried. No foster parents today. :))
