Do snails eat cory eggs?

Hi guys,

I seem to have accidentally introduced some of those mini flat ramshorn snails (via plants) into some of my Cory breeding tanks and wondered if I should be concerned about eggs being eaten.

I know snails can be good for a tank and can be controlled by the amount of food in the tank but should i be concerned and if so any hints on removing this type of snail without disturbing my Cory inhabitants?

Pond snails and some other snails do. Large ramshorn snails may, but smaller ramshorn snails don't. Some people use ramshorn snails to prevent fungus from spreading between eggs.

Thanks Eric that makes me feel a lot better, especially after reading the article you referenced and also the fact that Planorbus are almost impossible to get rid of once you have them.

So far this evening, I've observed that the infertile/fungussy (is that a real word?) eggs are being eaten and the fertile ones are given the once over cleaning but left intact.

I never thought those Planorbus would be so useful.

Fingers crossed they don't eat the fertile ones once all the others have been scoffed.
