Peckoltia ID

Post by PlecoCrazy »

I saw this at a store in the area. I thought it looked like some peckoltia or ancistomus but couldn't put an L number or species to it. The owner wasn't sure what it was as he was expecting to get an L114 but got this instead. Pic was taken with my phone so its not the best. Any ideas?

Well I picked up the one and had him order the last three his supplier had. Here are the 4 I wound up with. I think they look just like the L387 picture in Ingo's book.

That's awesome. Thanks guys. I've been trying to acquire some for quite awhile.

The glare was pretty bad on my above shots. This was the best. Any ideas on the sex. They came in pretty thin.

Hi!!

I concured L387
Regarding the sex...I think you should let them settle a little bit and let them beef up too...then I think you will be able to make a better sex ID

The only way I knew I had boys and girls was when they bred. They like to eat so much, they get quite plump. :P This is a fun species! Never a dull moment.

Not sure on my sex ratio but I know there is at least one of each. This weekend I discovered some fry roaming the tank. Looks to be around 20 fry.

I'm pretty sure the ones you sold me are L147 - they are much darker than the L387, and grows bigger.
