Tetras in breeding tank?

Post by zebra1 »

Is it safe to keep small tetras (neons & cardinals) in a pleco breeding tank. I have 40 gallon breeder tank set up with 8 (L134's). I have numerous anubis plants, driftwood, & their breeding caves. My temp. in my tank is 84 degrees F. I know this temp. is a little high but I see people are keeping small tetras with plecos & discus. Should I be concerned with the neons harming fry? Also are neons ok with high flow in my pleco tank?

I would think that this is safe, yes. I've kept Lemon tetras (that are bigger than Neons) with breeding Sturisoma (smaller fry than (L134)), and I'm not saying no fry were lost, but they didn't gobble up any noticeable number of fry.

I have Ember tetra in my candy stripe setup,
Cardinals in a four foot haven't decided whether to breed Zebs or Queen arabesque or both with a few little wildish (natural)looking discus ...why not? (*)
