A lateral (side view) would help. I am leaning towards an L600. The patterning on the head is similar to some of the juveniles that I have. The finer pattern takes some time to develop and it varies. The fish that clearly match the photos in the Cat-elog are of course easy to tell, variations are harder. One of my adult L600 females has a courser pattern for the head but it definitely does not fall into the L114 pattern. It is for this reason she will not be used for breeding. Perhaps another way to look at the issue is a 'quality scale'. Some are grade A and some are not.

Either way both are nice fish!

I agree with this description. Although I've seen some L114 with a full red tail the head pattern tell us otherwise.
It must be a combination of the head based coloration and the tail.

From the first pic looks like a wide female but easier to tell with top view water pic. Beautiful fish too. I love mine.
