Amblyceps Mangois
Amblyceps Mangois
Got 6 of these yesterday. Very shy, come out only for food. Hence, had to take them out for a "photoshoot". The pics are from phone camera. Sorry about the bad quality pics.
Will update with time. These fellas seem to be accepting pellets as well. Is this normal or am I just lucky?
Cheers,
Karthik

Give them enough room/space, otherwise you'll end up with one specimen. These fishes fight rather fiercely amongst each other.

Good. Feeling little relieved now.Richard B wrote:Mine were never fussy at all for feeding & also never came out except for feeding - crazy, manic speedy little devils!!
Yes they're in a 3 x 18 x 15 with barbs and loaches with plenty of hiding places. Here, an old pic of the same tankMarc van Arc wrote:Give them enough room/space, otherwise you'll end up with one specimen. These fishes fight rather fiercely amongst each other.

Ah, another hobbyist with a taste for the 'tasteless'. Lovely fish these, extremely hardy and will eat just about anything. Drop food in and watch them go berserk!!
Interesting Marc, I kept these, A.cerinum and A.laticeps in the same tank (3 footer) and never saw any aggressive behaviour. I had so many rocks/caves that the substrate was barely visible, maybe this was the reason I didn't see any aggression.
Typical habitat.

Vicar: It's about this letter you sent me regarding my insurance claim.
Devious: Oh, yeah, well, you see, it's just that we're not, as yet, totally satisfied with the grounds of your claim.
Vicar: But it says something about filling my mouth in with cement.
Devious: Oh well, that's just insurance jargon, you know.

Re: Amblyceps Mangois
Given the right conditions A.mangois will grow nice and large, try to grow them out first.

Re: Amblyceps Mangois
I hope they grow well and venture out often. I added a 5000LPH wave maker near the surface and it's giving a good flow and the tank water now has surface agitation too. In addition to this, there is one 1000LPH internal filter too. Hope thigs would go the mangois way
The only pic I could get after they were dropped into the tank:
