little Ameiurus melas with wound
hello
I have need to help for my little Ameiurus melas.
He was with a big Ameiurus melas (17cm) but the big would have eat the little (10 cm).
So the little is in bad health, the caudal fin is absentely and the wound don't to heal.
I have give to catfish 2ml of temerol (french product with benzalkonium chlorure). Which treatement I can give to her ?
The catfish is in little tank (17 liter) and refuse to eat. I give every day bloodworm and fish but it don't eat.
Thank you for your answers.

Re: little Ameiurus melas with wound
I think all you can do at this point is make sure the water is pristine and well aerated. The fish is very stressed by the wounds and won't feed until the healing is well underway.
There is no point in offering feed until it obviously starts to heal up.
They are a tough fish and even with such bad injury they stand a good chance of pulling through. Needless to say, anything can happen though.
It looks like the tail end might not have been just stripped of the skin but also burned by acid in the stomach of the bigger catfish.

Re: little Ameiurus melas with wound
As the fish is very much stressed, such as Victor described, don't make the error of netting it. That would add only more stress to the fish, and it is already quite satisfied with the current stesslevels.
With cichlids, badly wounded, I put them behind a little screen if they were not left alone, I did NOT net them. A day later the fish would have died from the stress, or started recovering - recovering could take weeks, but I never had one dying after 24 hrs

Thanks for your answers.
I want to let in rest in this tank and stop to feed him.
So the tank is aerated and filtered but I want to change a middle of water every 2 days.

Sorry to hear. It's not too surprising. That was a really bad injury.
