Hi guys,

I am new to this forum, but I got sent here because no one on the other two forums that I am on could identify my cat...I am sure that someone here can...

Here are 2 pics of him, he is about 7.5 inches long:

second view different white balance so that you can see the coloration a little better.

I thought that he was, but because he is gold, people think that he may not be an ordinary "eupterus".

He has smaller dots, and he is very gold/yellow compared to all of those in the pics.

what do you think??

It's probably the water or diet. Color aside, there is nothing to suggest that it is anything but eupterus.

I have seen S. eupterus in African Cichlid tanks that were gold in color. Maybe its the high pH/crushed coral.

well you guys are the experts, so if you say it is a eupterus then you all know best.

When I first got it. it was about 1.5 inches, and it was already that color, I adapted him to about 3 different water types (because I liked him so much) and he reamined the same.

I am actually about to sell him, because I am switching over to salt water, and I do no tthink that he would survive that water change. Do you all have an idea of how much $ I should ask for him?

Probably not very much, as eupterus is a fairly common fish.

I have 6 S.eupterus one of which is blonde.

hey Delbod,

The first of the eight pictures looks like him in body shape and spots and so on, still in all my searching online and otherwise (including everyone who has seen him)...I am yet to see a eupterus with his body color.

Maybe there was some cross breeding somewhere along the line...

Hi, These S.Eupterus come in all shapes, sizes and colour variations.

As said I donâ??t think youâ??re Syno is a hybrid.
If its not the water quality or food you feed him then it might be a genetic problem evolving from the use of hormones in breeding farms.

Apart from that nice fish.
