Food for small (baby?) plecos

Post by saradora »

I have lost three rubbernoses (1" in size or smaller) and I think that it was due to their not feeding as their stomachs appeared hollow. I recently purchased two more that are around the 1" mark and today one was on the glass and its stomach looked hollow. I feed Hikari sinking wafers (my other rubbernoses 2", 2.5", and 3" do not touch the regular Hikari or nutrafin algae wafers, or the more protein-based Ocean Nutrition catfish wafers that I feed my more carnivorous plecos). Occasionally I also feed zucchini, lettuce, or cucumber, which they barely graze.

Can anyone give me suggestions on what I could try feeding these fish? Should I try isolating them from the larger ones? Is there something I'm just missing?
